Heya Hounders, Shiloh The Bag Lady here today for the very first time. The pack doesn't usually let me get involved in complicated things. However, this posting involves my little brother Max so they made an exception, this one time. The results of the 2008 Paw-Lympics swimming competition are in and The Bumpass Hounds Newfoundland water rescue dog MAX captured 4th runner-up in the event. Max was bested by the trio of Kirby, Asta and Asta-Marie. We're not sure what the deciding factor was that dropped Max out of the top three; he was our top medal hope for this years competition. Although he was disappointed he knows that he gave it his best effort. I told him he might have done better if he had worn a life preserver (do they got giant ones?) or swimmed in his breakfast bowl instead of our lake. He might do better in the Dog's Choice voting. So if you can spare a minute, drop over to Lenny's blog at http://wirewise.blogspot.com/ and find the Dog's Choice voting for the swim competition and cast your vote, as you see fit. However, we'd appreciate any votes that might come Max's way. (Vote early and often, especially if you live in the Chicago area.) Max's been training for 16 months. When he was whelped his very first squeaky barks were "I want to win the swimming event in the 2008 Paw-Lympics." as he swam away looking for something to eat. REMEMBER DOGS AND PEOPLE: A VOTE FOR MAX IS A VOTE FOR CHANGE. MAX LIKES CHANGE. MAX WILL CHANGE THINGS, NO MORE QUO STATUS, etc. etc. Well I gotta go, it's time for dinner. Thanks for stopping by, we preciate it. - Shiloh (The Bumpass Hounds)

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
