YA REALLY GOTTA SEE THIS

Heya hounders, Shelby Belle (The Puppy from Hell) here today trying to fill a little space with some items of interest (hopefully). Our Mom starts school tomorrow and boy is she all excited about it. You'd think she was having puppies or something. Her books arrived this week and she got a brand new computer and it's all set up in her office upstairs. Upstairs is a dog free zone except sometimes the Special Boys get to go up there. That's cuz they don't have a lot of energy and they just lay around and take naps; they aren't inquisitive like myself. I'd really like to go up there but it's gated off at the bottom of the stairs. Well Mom is going to be studying all about us dogs and cats because she wants to be a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) and maybe go work at Doc Witter's hospital, Confederate Ridge Animal Hospital. Dad hopes it'll cut down our vet bills if she can get a discount or "practice" some of her stuff on us guys here at home. I'm not sure I want her "practicing" stuff on me though; maybe she can "practice" on J.E.B. or Boru. Shiloh can use a brain transplant. I don't know how long the vet people have to "practice" before they can do stuff. Heck, Doc Witter graduated from Corny-L University in New York a really, really long time ago and he is still "practicing." Well maybe "practice" makes them all perfect.

We were visiting some of our buddies' blogs this week and wanted to share some stuff with you. Two Newfs (like Max and Shiloh) that live up in New Jersey (we're not sure what exit) are Nanook and Pooka. Nanook is a rather fluffy haired Landseer and his "little" brother Pooka is a a black Newf. Well their Moma, Neesa, took a bunch pictures of them singing some opera song all about Geppetto's cat Figaro. I don't know how they got all interested in the Pinocchio story. Well anyway, they sing this song about Figaro but we don't understand much of the words except "Figaro" and "La-la-la-la etc." But it's really pretty well done and we all were BOL about it so we recommend that you pop over to
and check out the dynamic duo of Nanook and Pooka making their operatic debut.
Another blog that we like to visit is Willow and Stella's blog. Willow is a working dog, a Leader Dog for the Blind. Stella is a companion pet that lives with Willow and their human. One of the postings on the blog is all about Willow leading her person on a walk through their town out where Dorothy and Toto used to live. It is a very interesting posting and provides a lot of insight into what visually impaired people and leader dogs deal with on a continual basis. You can check out A Walk With Willow at
Another blog we like to visit is the Brat Pack's, probably because they are a lot like us. We think that they live down by the South Fork ranch near Dallas. They have lots of fun and interactions that are amusing to us. They have all different kinds of dogs and they currently have a foster pup that they rescued from the green needle. The Brat Pack "foster" brothers (Bear) have a history of becoming just plain Brat Pack brothers. Their people are really into animal welfare and rescue just like us, so you know that the Brat Pack rates really high on our lists of Good Guys. You can stop by to check them out at
(You'll love Samantha, she's the Brat Pack "Fun Police.")

<----- Boo and Scout ----->

Our cuzin Caitlin is visiting this weekend. We love her a lot cuz she doesn't seem to get tired of petting us as much as we want. She has two dogs at her house, Boo and Scout. They are both rescue dogs and our Mom and Dad really like them. Boo has been over to visit and play with us but we haven't gotten to meet Scout yet but we hear that she is very cute and very lovable. They are both black but Boo has a white underside. Scout has bangs and goes to a groomer to make her look beautiful. We should send Shiloh to a groomer and see if they can make her look beautiful (BOL). Caitlin wants to go water skiing behind one of the jet skis today so maybe, just maybe, Mom and Dad will take one of hounds along with them. We haven't been swimming in the lake for a while now and it would sure be fun. Well that's about all I've got for today. Please leave a comment if you can spare the time. We like hearing from hounders.

Shelby Belle and All...thanks for dropping by to help me feel a bit better about tomorrow. I know lots of dogs get lumps, but this is RODNEY, and I have become attached to him. So...since muzzer is a softie, I play this for all it is worth.

good luck to your mom on her studies. We need all the good vet people we can get.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
