PRAY FOR OUR FRIEND

PRAY FOR SPENCER AND HIS FAMILY, PLEASE.
We have never met Spencer, but he is our friend. We don't know the humans who take care of him, but we love them. We don't know the family politics, but we don't care. We only know them through their blog, http://blog.stickerdog.com/ , but that has opened their world to us. We have shared their adventures, taken trips with them, gone on excursions and to the park with them, chased evil squirrels with them. We've remodeled their home with them, we've helped less fortunate dogs with them and we've experienced their pain upon losing foster pups. Now we will stand with them during the illness of Spencer. We are sick, emotionally and physically, from the news that Spencer has advanced cancer and will probably soon be going to The Rainbow Bridge. We left a comment on his blog:
"Spencer, All of us Bumpass Hounds are very sad to hear that you are feeling so bad. We are howling to the sky to ask DOG to make you get better. We' have asked all of our friends to howl too. We send our prayers and best caring wishes to you and your people. You started us in blogging cuz we wanted to be like you. You have has done lots of good work helping dogs less fortunate than you find good homes. We remember how you and your people worked to help dogs like the little puppies Ben and Jerry; you are an inspiration for all of us. We know how much your people love you and they will take the very best care of you that they can. They will always do what is best for you because they love you as much as you love them; you are a family. You are not alone in your fight, we are all standing with you.
- Homer J., Jubal, J.E.B., Sophie, Shelby Belle, Jack, Abby, Max, Shiloh, Alex, Boru, and Jenny = The Bumpass Hounds (TBH)"

We ask that you stop over at Spencer's blog and leave him and his family some word of hope and encouragement. We want them to know that Spencer has made a difference in the world and that he is loved by many. They are good people and he is a good dog. We do, unfortunately, know how they feel and what they are currently going through. We are sorry to burden you all with our problems but we feel so helpless. We will try to maintain stiff upper lips during Spencer's remaining time with us; he'd probably want it that way. As Spencer always sez:

We were trying to catch up on your blog. When we read about Spencer, we went right over to meet him. We wish we could have met him before. He is one handsome dog! And he is obviously greatly loved!

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
