OOPS. WE'RE SORRY.

Hey Hounders,
Alex here to apologize for the dumb Wordless Wednesday photos we posted yesterday. We must not have had our collective brains engaged. Not that they aren't interesting photos, but they probably needed a little explanation. As you can see from this photo that I made dad take tonight, I am perfectly fine, well, at least I appear to be physically OK. The posted photos, which are about 2 years old, show what happens when a big heavy cat tries to jump over a high baby gate that doesn't have one of those plastic covers over the top of the extension joints. I apparently impaled myself and ripped my chest open. Fortunately, I didn't puncture any arteries and I had remarkably little bleeding. Dad came home and discovered me casually sitting on the kitchen counter just before the vet closed; so a quick call was made and I was brought in to CRAH to see Doc Witter. I spent the night at the hospital bandaged up with an antibiotic IV and the next morning they evened out the rip in my neck and sewed (stapled actually) me up. The vets stuck a drainage tube in the incision which had to be cleaned with a Q-Tip every six hours and I was released to home that same afternoon. Mom had to get me to take a liquid antibiotic (YUCK - NOT FUN) every six hours when she cleaned the tube. All the nasty old style obsolete dog baby gates were trashed and replaced with the ones with the plastic cover over the joint prongs.

As you all probably know by now, we lost our very dearest friend Spencer on Tuesday. Spencer, like Chance and Gordon, had cancer. He had grown very tired and decided he needed to go to The Rainbow Bridge to be rejuvenated and to play with Chance and Gordon. They are all running free through the fields and mud puddles of heaven. We miss Spencer but will always carry his memory in our hearts. Please stop by and leave a word or two of encouragement for Spencer's beloved HM Michelle and his HD Sangtar: http://www.blog.stickerdog.com/

We love you Spencer. DOG will take care of you now.

Phew Alex, I thought something terrible had happened to you. Mum has the leaky eyes about Spencer.

Phew...We are glad that nothing bad happened to Alex. We doubt we can handle another bad news.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
