SUPERBOWL SUNDAY

Brutus Maximus posting today. I'm the big guy around here (Shiloh is bigger but she's a gal not a guy), kinda like Golic on the Mike and Mike ESPN Radio show. like Golic, I don't play football but I can talk about it. (Those that can "do" and those that can't "teach" or "report." ) It's Superbowl Sunday. Today's the day that the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers play the United States National Football League (NFL) championship game. The NFL isn't as pompous as Major League Baseball and doesn't call it The World Series; it's just a national championship football game. That makes sense because this kind of football isn't like the football played everywhere else in the world (not counting the one NFL game played in England each year.); which we snobishly refer to as soccer. Anyway, the big game is tonight and since the New England Patriots aren't playing we don't really care about it; we were hoping to see Giselle. We'd rather have mom or dad brush us out than have them watch the game. Dad says he's kinda obligated to watch so he'll be able to make cool comments at work and claim he was rooting for whoever wins. We reminded him that he isn't going to work tomorrow because he has a long painful dentist appointment mid day. By Tuesday the game will be old news and everyone other than NFLaholics will have forgotten about it and be getting ready for March Madness (something else all together). Anyway, as a point of interest i was gonna tell y'all about what Boru did the other evening when dad brought home some stuff from COSTCO along with a big pizza. Dad put the pizza box on the kitchen island counter and was putting away the other stuff he bought. Well Boru likes warm things and Boru likes boxes so Boru sat his fat butt down on top of the pizza box (that's a Golic picture). COSTCO doesn't put those plastic disk things in their pizza boxes so Boru's 20+ pounds of cat butt settle the pizza box cover down on top of the pizza cheese. Pizza and cardboard, anyone? Then Boru proceeded to sit in the little box that dad brought the other stuff home in. We have the photographic evidence right here. Well that's all the news that's fit to print. As Spencer always sez: "Wags."

I think Boru was just destroying the pizza on purpose so that you pups would get it. humans are too picky and would never eat the pizza after it has been crushed by butt. BOL =)

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
