THREE TO THE VET (Pt 3)

THE EXAMINATION ROOM

Abby, Jack and Sophie here to continue our adventure of Three at the Vet. So Sophie is prancing down the hallway, with her leash in her mouth, headed for the examination room. Dad has Abby and Jack, who needs a little encouragement, and cuzin Caitlin trails behind. The assistant welcomes us into the exam room and closes the door. Caitlin sits on the corner bench and Jack cuddles up next to her. The assistant tells us that The Wizard will be with us in just a minute and heads out the back door. Jack is really quivering from fright and Abby sits next to him to help calm him down. Sophie is bust exploring the small office and investigating the door the assistant left through. About the time Sophie is sniffing the door it opens and Doc's LVT Laurie comes in to the exam room. her and dad talked a little bit . Laurie hadn't seen Abby in a long time and didn't recognize her. Laurie didn't remember that we actually had a smaller dog. Laurie took Abby out the back door into the hospital area to get weighed, take blood and poop samples and have The Wizard give Abby her shots. While Abby was gone, Jack decided to get on the bench seat with Caitlin. Dad stood by the examination counter/table and Sophie continued her detailed examination of the room. Soon Abby was back and it was Jack's turn to go out back. Jack didn't want to leave Caitlin and dad and Laurie had to tug on his leash to lead him out. Meanwhile Abby sat by Caitlin and Sophie finally plopped herself down by the wall. Soon Jack was back and he appeared none the worse for the trip out back. Sophie got up and with very little coaxing pranced out back and headed towards the scale. Dad decided to watch the proceeding since this was Sophie's first official examination and visit since dropping the foster title. Dad watched Sophie anxiously as Laurie helped position her on the scale. Dad schedule called for Sophie to be at 105 lbs but she had made that target two weeks ago when her target then was 107 lbs. Dad was hoping for a continued weight loss since Sophie has been doing so well. And guess what Sophie weighed when she got on the scale? Heck, just look at this video. Then Doc and Laurie took some of Sophie's blood and poop to test and then she got all of her required shots before going back to the exam room. Now we all waited for Doc (The Wizard) to come in and poke and prod us some more to complete our examinations. We'll continue the adventure tomorrow.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
