THREE TO THE VET (Pt 4)

POKING AND PRODDING
Abby, Jack and Sophie here to continue our "Three at the Vet" story. Oh, Happy St. Patricks Day to all you Irish Setters and Irish Wolfhounds and Irish want to Be's out there in the blogosphere. Well what do you think about Sophie's weigh-in? Her target weight was 105 lbs and she tipped the digital scale at 101 - 100 lbs, so they recorded it as 101 lbs. That's 4 lbs below her target weight, how about them apples? At this rate she will be down into double digits by the end of this month. Mom and dad are so excited and proud of her. Congratulations Sopha -dof; way to go girl! Now where were we in our story? Oh yeah! We are all three in the exam room after having our precious bodily specimens taken from us and our vaccines administered to us. Our recorded weights are 101 lbs for Sophie and 65 lbs each for both Abby and Jack. Abby contributed a extra fluid specimen, pee, out in the back when they took her blood fluid. Take a little; give a little Abby sez. Laurie and Doc (The Wizard) both came into the examination room. Of course dad and Doc had to yap like pups at each other for a while. What's up? How's it going? etc. etc. Then, under Laurie's prodding and reminder that Doc has a full calendar today, we all get down to business. Sophie is first and since she is still over 100 lbs Doc keeps her on the floor and he has to bend down over her with his sore knee and all; Doc is a real super-trooper. This is Sophie's first exam here at CRAH, so Doc is making notes for her record. He has his heart radio ipod thingie and his ear looker thingie and his in your eye lookie thing too. After Sophie it's Abby's turn. Dad lifted her up and put her on the examination counter so that Laurie could hold her steady while Doc checked her out from snout to butt. Last but not least was Jack-Jack. He was still quivering somewhat even though we'd been there for almost an hour by then. Dad put him up on the table so that Laurie and Doc Witter could thoroughly examine him. Dad had noticed that Jack had what seemed to be an irregular heartbeat last week and mom had confirmed it with her heart radio ipod thingie that she has for her LVT school. Doc took a unusually long time listening to Jack-Jack's heart. When he was finished dad put Jack back down and the dad and Doc talked a while and we heard Jack's name mentioned a lot in their conversation. We'll finish up our Three at the Vet story Thursday.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, Bumpass Hounds and kitties! Way to go on the weight, Sophie! We hope the vet just said you were a very good boy, Jack, because you certainly were.

See ya!

Hey Hounds, do you know if there's a different feed or something that we need to put in our blog list for you? Our blogroll list just keeps putting you at the bottom.

Thanks!
Joey and Zeke

We hope that's nothing wrong with Jack's heartbeat. What's the verdict?

Too bad you didn't catch Jan 11 years ago. She could have signed your guest book from AZ. But then we wouldn't be here. And she wouldn't have a computer. Or a blog. So guess it's a good thing you weren't looking for someone from AZ then. You'd have missed her.

Now that we've straightened that out ...

Congratulations on the weight loss, Sophie. We hope all of you are healthy.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
