LAST EDITION THE BUMPASS HOUNDS BLOG

WE HAVE TO CLOSE UP SHOP
Heya Hounders,
It's all of us Bumpass Hounds with some very upsetting news. As you know, the economy has really gone down the septic tank worldwide. Our mom is unemployed and going to LVT school so she isn't bringing in lots of dough and dad, well dad is just about as feeble and old as Joey's dad. He still works but the dollars just don't go as far as they used to and we're all big eaters. Heck, Max, Shiloh and Boru could eat most humans out of house and home, in fact, they could eat most humans. We've tried cost cutting and other stringent measures like not feeding Sophie under the guise of having her on a diet. We tried renting our selves out as watch dogs but we usually get fired for sleeping on the job. We have tried everything we can think of but nothing seems to work. So we've decided to disband the pack and go our seperate ways in the world and try to find jobs as tramps or thieves (wasn't that a Cher song?) and send money back to poor old mom and dad so that they might get along in their old age. Since we'll be gone there won't be anyone here to publish our blog. Mom is too busy studying and dad used to be in the Navy so he's got a limited, and somewhat censored, vocabulary. So this is the last issue of The Bumpass Hounds Blog. Farewell to all you hounders from the pack.

THIS IS NOT A JOKE.
Our blog buddies out in Colorado, Mogley and Bella, have a new foster girl living with them; her name is Sassy. They don't know much about her yet, but they do already know that she is a wonderful girl. She was hardly in their door when she grabbed a toy and offered to play with Mogley. Most foster dogs take a week or more before they are ready to play. The first few days they are still lost and looking for a friend. They Velcro themselves to the nearest human's leg and stay there until they feel more comfortable in the home. Not Sassy! At 4 years of age, she is still a playgirl. She is underfoot as much as she can be. She needs the comfort of a kind word and a lot of petting. Treats help too. Bella and Mogley, famous Bravo-Zulu Award Winners, get to share in the extra attention since they are all working together to make her feel at home. If you are at all interested in possibly helping Sassy find her new forever home, stop by Mogley's blog.

Hey Hounds and Kitties

April Fools. It took us a second, but Mommy explained the joke. We wanted to get more dog fur on her quilt, but she wouldn't let us. There are 3 dogs where it is going to live, so that should be remedied soon. We think Mommy just wanted an excuse to use the word heliotrope.

Hah! We knew that wasn't the truth! All Y'all canines know you can just pack up and come here. Muzzer would be in Heaven. Sorry, but the cats can't come. Teka would eat them.

Why don't you open an exterminator business? You can rid back yards of squirrels and other pests. You could go into the newspaper delivery business. You could always get a job as a toy tester at the dog toy factory. Don't give up, there is something you can do. Then again, a nap sounds good as well.

You nearly gave us all heart failure. If you close up shop over finances, what chance do we have with Jan being able to feed us? We're so relieved it was an April Fool's joke.

Thanks for offering to vote for our Rusty. It's Baby Patches' way of getting acquainted with bloggers and one day she'll have a contest with woofies too. We aren't sure but we think she's picking the winner. It's just a giveaway of treats. But you can see the entries here. :)

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
