NEWS UPDATE

NEWS ANCHOR SOPHIE

Hey Hounders,
It's Sophie here with some updates on recent events here at The Bumpass Hounds Blog.
Sassy's Adoption Finalized:
Mogley and Bella's foster dog Sassy moved to her new forever home on Saturday and everything worked out fine this time. Mogley posted an outstanding entry on his blog about everyone that was involved in making this happen. It is well worth reading so please jump over to this site and take a look at it and perhaps leave Mogley and Bella a comment about what they do. Thanks.

Sophie's weigh-in:
Well, this past Saturday was my bi-weekly weigh-in at Confederate Ridge Animal Hospital. My goal weight according to my projected schedule was 101 pounds. Two weeks ago I weighed in at 98 pounds so I expected I hadn't gained any weight because dad really regulates my calorie intake. I was hoping to be at 96 pounds on my lose a pound a week regime. Well I beat my own expectation, weighing in at a mere 94 pounds putting me 7 pounds below target. That's pretty darn good if I do say so myself. Last June I was pushing 147 pounds and when I moved in here in October I was 132 pounds. Now that I'm getting down to the "heavy" category, instead of "fat" or "obese." I'm getting more exercise and losing faster weight faster than when I was a stationary blob in the corner. Good on me, yeah!

Alpaca shearing:
Saturday was also the annual alpaca shearing over at Sorbie Farm where mom is doing her 40 hours of large animal husbandry for her LVT course. None of us Bumpasses, except of course mom and dad, got to go so as not to spook the alpacas. Dad took the camera and he took some photos and video clips and showed them to us. We think you'll like looking at them to see what shearing the alpacas is all about. We'll probably do a couple of posts this week to show y'all the photos and videos.

Supa Saturday Contest:
We have been nominated in the Supa Saturday contest over at Travis' blog. If it's no too much trouble for y'all we'd really appreciate it if you could drop over there and vote for us, unless you like one of the other nominees better. The voting area is in the upper right of Travis' blog page. Thanks for for any consideration y'all may give to us, The Bumpass Hounds.
Well that's about it for today. I'll be seeing ya. - Sophie

Alpaca shearing? That sounds interesting. But we sure can't understand why you guys weren't invited too. You could have been a big help, rounding them up and keeping them still and ....

What's so funny, Jan?

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
