SOMBER & SAD SUNDAY

Heya Hounders,

Today is a sad day. Our friend, the beautiful Golden Honey, left our world yesterday to go romp in the fields by the river over The Rainbow Bridge. She is running free; she is young and healthy, without pain. She is being welcomed by Chance, Rusty, Gordon, Penny, Old Bear Dog and many of our others friends who have already made that journey. Please stop by Honey's blog (http://supertrooperhoney.blogspot.com/) and leave a rememberance for Honey's people, Ms. Kristin and Mr. Dave. They loved her so very much and didn't want her to go, but Honey told them that it was her time and she really needed to leave. Ms. Kristin and Mr. Dave had to face the dreaded "decision" and they were not selfish, they said their goodbyes and let Honey go on her way. But Honey hasn't really left them; she'll always be a part of them.
Our friends at Jan's Funny Farm wrote yesterday on their blog: "Even though we knew this was coming, as soon as we saw the emails, all with "Charlie" as the subject, we knew her time had arrived. Yes, our friend Charlie has passed. As her human wrote, she has crossed the lake." We didn't know Charlie but we'd like each of our readers to go to Charlie's Blog (http://charliesdogblog.blogspot.com/) and please sign her guest book and leave your condolences for her people; we did.

That's all we feel like writing today. We need time to grieve and refect on how much Honey and Charlie will be missed by the people whom they loved and who loved them so much. It is a somber, sad Sunday. We are a community, so let's support those who need a little bit of understanding today. It's not that much of an effort to click over to these blogsites and to just leave a few words. It can mean so much to these people to know that others understand their feelings and that they are not alone in facing these tragedies.

Godspeed Golden Honey and Charlie. We wish you to rest in peace and to know how much you are loved and missed in this world. Please tell our friend Spencer that we always think of him.

We were sad to hear of Honey's crossing, too. And Charlie's mom wrote a beautiful tribute.

We just got online a little bit ago and went right over to check on Golden Honey. Now we're teary again. This is a sad weekend.

It was nice of you to include Charlie in your post. Losing a loved pet or a human is one of the loneliest times in life. So it does help to know others care. His human will be comforted by any messages left by fellow pet lovers.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
