T.G.I.M.

THANK DOG IT'S MONDAY

Heya Hounders,
Shelby Belle here with today's post. Thank goodness that it's Monday. We couldn't wait for the terribly sad weekend to be over. The schedule of weekday life will force us to move on and take our minds off of all the sad goings on that took place this weekend. The loss of Honey and Charlie has been the focus of our attention but we need to let them go. We will hold them in our hearts.

LOOKING FOR LOVE IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES:

Just like Leo of Two Goldens and a Wannabe, Boru has always acted as though he'd rather be a dog. He hangs with the dogs, he sleeps by the dogs, he nuzzles with th dogs (when they let him) and he even attempts to play with dogs. The Goldens are very tolerant and patient with Bruisey. Here's a short video of Jubal (Big Jubes) trying to take a nap on the kitchen floor when Boru decides he wants to play.

THE KITTIES GOT AN AWARD

Alex, Boru, and Jenny received this award a few weeks ago and we were recently reminded about it. We want to thank the cat that awarded it to us but we're not allowed to tell you who it's from, as the condition of accepting the award is that it must be anonymous! We would like to pass will pass this on to Jan's Funny Farm kitties, Rusty, Cyndi, Crystal, Cameron, Cotton and Percy. We'd also like to share this with our blog buddy Wilbur who lives with the Washington Woos, Steve and Kat. , and Leo who is the "wannabe" of Two Goldens and a Wannabe; Leo lives with Tucker and Daisy. Each of these cats lives in the shadow of furry beasts. You cool cats can pass this award on to whomever you choose, but remember, you aren't allowed to mention where you got it from. We have to be Annie N. Amos.

SOPHIES BI-WEEKLY SATURDAY WEIGH-IN RESULT:

We just found out about the Biggest Losser Contest over at Raising Addie, but we hadn't signed Sophie up. You may remember that back in June 2008 Sophie's medical record shows that she weighed 147 lbs. We she came to us as a foster in lieu of going to a shelter she weighed 132 lbs, that was in October. Dad put her on a schedule originating from June 1, 2008 with a goal to lose 1 lb a week. A month ago she weighed-in at 98 lbs and two weeks ago she tipped the scale at 94 lbs. This past Saturday she kept ahead of her goal schedule weighing in at 90 lbs. Thats a total loss of 57 lbs since June and 42 lbs since she has been living here. We believe that she is The Biggest Loser, but only because she was morbidly obese and had the most to lose. She is on a strict diet with Purina OM (Overweight management?) kibble and green string beans and carrots. Her picture on our blog banner, in the lower left corner, was taken when she weighed about 132 lbs. Here is wht she looks like these days:

Well, that's it for today. tune in tororrow; same Bat Time, Same Bat Channel.

Hmmmm. For some reason, the video loads and runs but nothing changes. But our Percy is like that, so we have an idea what the video shows.

It's great Sophie is doing so well on her diet. We hope this means she'll soon have a new picture in the header?

Congrats on receiving the award and thanks for passing it on to us felines here. We are honored.

Thanks for the award! I appreciate it. I think it's great that you cats have your furry beasts trained to let you rub all over them. I'm still working on my furry beasts.

Wilbur

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
