MR. IGGY HARMON

A TRUE STORY

Heya Hounders,
It's me, your buddy Alex, a.k.a. Big Al, with a little story that dad got from a person that he works with. It's really a great story and kinda shows the relationship of pets in people's lives:

"Well folks, I have a good one to share with you that is true and it has a happy ending. As you know today is Sunday Mothers Day. My wife went to church early and I played hooky and went to play tennis. We have a house full critters and we noticed that one was missing, Mr. Iggy Harmon. Our number one son. My wife went to breakfast with our grand kids and as you know I was out playing tennis. She came home first and notice a dead cat on the road that looked just like Iggy, I came home later and saw the same cat. Well the fun got started then, we went to calling for Iggy and started looking all over the place, but no Iggy. My wife then said let's go take a look at that cat on the road. Well when I chased the dam buzzards off of him or her I swore up and down that it was Iggy. So my wife said to me, T , you just can't leave Iggy there like that, so I went back and scraped up Iggy, so I thought and took him home and buried him in the back yard. We cried for the rest of the evening and planned his memorial service for Monday evening. After about 6 hours of mourning, I walked to the back deck and guess who was standing at the door. Mr. Iggy Harmon, he walked on in and the dogs and the other cats all started licking him and acting like, where the hell have you been. Well as you can figure we all are so happy to have Iggy back home that he has been getting the royal treatment and he's looking at everybody as though to say what's the fuss. We still plan to have a memorial service for the little girl or boy out back that I buried. We will name the grave the unknown Cat. Hopefully, the cat is still buried and it wasn't Iggy that jumped out of the grave. I haven't checked, I will check tomorrow morning. To the unknown Cat, I am grateful that god gave us a chance to bury you and give you a decent send off. Go out now and join your friends at Rainbow Bridge, may god keep you and give you plenty cat treats, no mice or birds please. Folks this is a true story. My wife and I are so grateful that we have these critters in our lives, they make us so happy, God has blessed us with the greatest bunch of dogs and cats in the world. As you probably can see from this email that we love them all. Thank You god for all your Blessings. To all you Moms out there, Happy Mother's Day. Aw what a day."
Now wasn't that a very nice story?
We want to apologize for a major gaff that Jubal made the other day. He had obviously gotten in to Boru's catnip. Jubal said that our blog buddy Tank was from Pittsburg, PA and he very much isn't, thank you very much. Tank resides in Overland Park, Kansas. Overland Park is the second most populous city in the U.S. state of Kansas. Located in Johnson County, it has traditionally been considered a satellite city of Kansas City, Missouri, and is located adjacent to Olathe (dad says there used to be a Naval Air Station in Olathe when he first joined the navy), Lenexa, Prairie Village and Leawood. The population was 149,080 at the 2000 census. Overland Park has consistently ranked in the top 10 of CNN/Money and Money magazine's 100 Best Cities to Live in the United States. In the 2008 rankings, Overland Park placed 9th. Additionally, the city was ranked as one of "The Best Places to Raise Your Kids in 2009" It is also the setting for the Showtime series The United States of Tara. We're sorry Tank. No more pumpkin pie for Jubal. And guess what? Huffle tells us that The OP Pack (Phantom, Dakota, and Thunder) also live in Overland Park.

That is a very nice story indeed. Have you met my friends the OP Pack, who live in Overland Park? They are very nice pups.

Hey, I finally got through after getting error messages when I tried to visit your bloggie upteen times! I don't know what was wrong - darn technology! So anyway, when you get a chance, come on over and pick up an award!

See ya!

Wow - that really wasn't necessary guys. I'm sure the Chamber of Commerce will be pleased, but I haven't lived in OP very long so it's not like I was insulted that you said I lived in Pittsburgh. In fact, even if I'd been here awhile, it wouldn't have offended me. But, thanks for setting the record straight! Enjoyed the Iggy story too... Tank

That's a funny story, but too bad for the cat on the road. I'm glad he/she is getting a nice memorial though.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
