RADAR

Hey Hounders,
It's me, Abby (Dabby-Doo). Big doings at our house today. Mom and dad left at about 8:30 this morning with two cars, mom's jetta and the Rescue Wagon, and came home at 4:30 this afternoon with only one car, the Rescue Wagon. Mom and dad were out in the big detached garage all day yesterday moving stuff around and cleaning things up. A lot of trash came out. Then when they got home today they brought the cyclone fence kennel up from the yard shed, one piece at a time. It's 4' x 8' big. Then they set it up inside the garage. We watched the whole thing from the steps going up to the back deck. I stayed there for the whole time, just watching what was going on. Then they put a large floor mat inside the kennel and then they put a bunkered dog bed on the mat. Then they put a water bowl inside it, they also put a doggie liter box in there. Then mom raided our downstairs toy box in the family room and took about 10 rubber chew toys out to put in the kennel in the garage. Then they went to the RSQWGN and brought out a small red Golden Retriever puppy. They were calling him Radar. The term RADAR was coined in 1941 as an acronym for radio detection and ranging. The term has since entered the English language as a standard word, radar, losing the capitalization. So Radar has something to do with Radio. Mom and dad brought food out to the puppy and took him for a few walks. He kept bumping into dads legs but he seemed pretty energetic. We don't know much more than what we saw. The pup didn't come into the house but dad made 3 or 4 trips out to the garage during the evening. We barked out to the pup but he didn't answer and didn't even look over our way, it was like he didn't even see us. Well, that's about it. This is a big mystery to us all.

Hmmmm. Is Radar visiting or staying? What does Radar have to do with Radio? When do you get to meet Radar? The plot thickens and we can't wait to find the answers.

Sounds like an exciting mystery!!
We wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to all of you for the beautiful card AnnMarie made, and sent from all of you. We are deeply touched! Dave read it over and over, and looked at the Honey dish on the front for a long time. Yesterday, I made Honey a special place in our home for photos, and items we will remember her by.

Thank you so so much!
Big hugs!
Kristin and Dave (and Honey's big loving spirit)

Oh, one more thing.....Dave and I found this wonderful gallery this past weekend at Squaw Valley. The photographer, Keoki Flagg, did a spread on ski patrol doggies (mostly goldens) in 2002..there are some of his photos on his webpage. Hope you can take a look:

Hmmm... what an intriguing mystery! Do you have it figured out yet? Did you get a new family member?

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
