RADIO UPDATE FROM AHGRR #4

HALLELUJAH SUNDAY RADIO

Heya Hounders,

It's me again, Sophie. Boy it's really hot and humid here in Bumpass today. Not much of a breeze; just still heavy air. I've got good news, bad news, and good news. I want to start off with the best good news first. We got an email fro Ms. Carol up at Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary in Delray, WV. It's about the little blind Golden Retriever puppy, Radio. Radio is 3 months old and he seems to have contracted the dreaded parvo virus about a week or so after being vaccinated for it. He was taken to the vet hospital last week and has been being treated with meds and and IV for dehydration. It looked grim for the first couple of days but then he started eating small bits of bland diet food. You can peruse our past postings over the week to catch up on Radio's situation if you'd like. Anyway, we got this email from AHGRR yesterday and thought we'd better post it for y'all to read BECAUSE Y'ALL ARE THE REASON IT COULD BE SENT. This is like terrific best good news. Here's what Ms. Carol wrote:

Hi:
I just needed to drop a note and let everyone know that our boy, Radio, is now eating special food and doing well with it. He has literally come back from the clutches of death - - - - - and will be going home from the hospital on Monday!

THANK YOU -I know it was your prayers that pulled him through - - - - - - - - I have no idea what his total hospital bill will be - but whatever it is - his life is well worth it. Thank you to all who have been able to contribute to it, we can still use help.
(So don't forget to check out the ebay "original art" auction to benefit Radio. 100% of the proceeds will go towards Radio's medical bill. Just CLICK HERE. - Sophie)

Please remember to give your furkids hugs today - - - - - - - they are precious gifts on loan to us for such a short time.

So that's the best good news. Now for the bad news. I got my new collar today and it isn't at all what I expected or even what mom expected. I thought I was just going to get a nice new collar; mom evidently thought I was going to get something like a big conehead collar. What I got wasn't like either of those choices. I guess as long as I have to wear this thing that there's no danger of me drowning in the lake. It's a nice color, blue. Dad had to blow it up like one of those dolls. It has loops that my normal collar pass through to keep it in place. Now I can't lick my itchy spot anymore. RATS!

The other good news isn't as important as Radio getting better but it's still good news. Dad took me to Doc Witter's this morning to do my bi-weekly weigh-in. Jubal came along for moral support and because he likes to go for rides too. Well, according to my target schedule based on lossing one pound a week since 1 June 2008 when I weighed 147 pounds, I should be at 97 pounds. Two weeks ago I weighed 90 pounds and today I weighed-in at 88 pounds. So I'm 9 pounds below goal weight, I've lost 2 pounds since my last weigh-in and I have lost a total of 59 pounds. How's them apples? So what do you think? How good am I doing? And I didn't join The Biggest Loser group (we didn't know about it) . I apologize for bragging but I really feel good about myself and mom and dad are very, very proud of me; and that makes me feel even better.

Well, that's all the news that's fit to print. Y'all have a pleasant Sunday and, last but not least, to all you mom's out there in the blogosphere:

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

That's great about your weight! How many more pounds are you going to lose? I bet you feel like a new dog now that you're getting so skinny!

We are so happy about Radio! Most pups don't have that good of story after parvo, so he's a lucky guy! We hope his luck continues and he finds a great home.

Steve

PS. Kat says that collar looks like it might be better than a cone, but you should still give your dad the sad eyes.

That's mostly good news, except for the cone. And that's only temporary so it's not as bad as it could be. Well done on your diet Sophie!

Addie would probably still let you join the Biggest Loser group. She didn't kick me out last week when I gained weight BOL

You scared us with the bad news mention. But it isn't bad bad news, so we're relieved. And happy to read the good news about Radio! That is really great.

And Sophie deserves a reward for her progress. Something very special.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.
