WE HAVE ANOTHER BUMPI

THERE ARE NOW 10 BUMPASS HOUNDS AND 3 BUMPASS CATS
Heya Hounders,
It's Homer J. with some startling news; well at least it was for us. Y'all remember that red Golden Retriever puppy that mom & dad brought home with them Monday afternoon? Well, it's not just any stray Golden, it is none other than the little blind Golden that contracted parvo virus that we were telling everyone about last week. It's Radio. At least it was Radio. Mom has changed his name a little bit to Radar because he can't see and has to navigate in the dark. So we'll be referring to him as Radar, but be assured that the pup that is now "Radar" was "Radio" Monday morning. Mom and dad had to drive all the way up to Charlestown, WV to go to the vet hospital, Hillside Veterinary Hospital, where Radar had been being treated for the parvo virus. The staff was very nice to mom and dad and they really all liked Radio (Radar). The vet gave mom and dad some medicines and told them how to take care of Radio (Radar) with the medicines. They didn't tell dad what the bill was, probably because it's an AHGRR account. Dad says it must have cost a lot of money to save Radio's life because he was in the hospital for a week. So please don't forget to check out the eBay "original art" auction to benefit Radio. 100% of the proceeds will go towards Radio's medical bill. Just CLICK HERE. A staff member brought Radio out by the isolation ward door and Mom and Dad took a few minutes to introduce themselves to the pup in the parking lot. Radio

chewed mom's arm just to get a taste of her.Mom said that Radar is a very good traveler, He slept most of the way home. It was about 212 miles each way. They got home about 4:30 Monday afternoon and immediately setup the cyclone kennel inside the detached 3 car garage. It seems that because of what Radar had, parvo virus, he is being quarantined from the rest of us for 3-4 weeks; BUMMER! Mom says that Radar is being fostered for the duration of his quarantine and then he'll get introduced to the rest of us. Dependent upon how our introductions go he may turn out to be a failed foster. Homer and Sophie are failed fosters because they are now permanent residents. Mom and dad both say for us NOT to be shocked if that's what happens to Radar. We will continue the Radar story through the rest of the week

I was a keeper - but Sweetie, NillaBean and MJ are all failed foster - and even thought NillaBean doesnt live with us anymore she is still part of the family. (She lives with our grandparents because she is a target dog and needs to travel alot and mommy has to work)

Foster failures are fine folks in our book! We won't get upset if your folks fail foster again.

We are glad that you have taken in Radar. Dogs with special needs are special dogs in many ways.

A blind dog learns to follow the others, luckily for him he will have lots of "others" to follow.

Hey, that's great! I was hoping we'd get to hear how Radio was doing, and now we will! That's wonderful! I hope he continues to thrive and recover on the medicine, and I can't wait to see more posts about him. What a lot of Hounders!

See ya!

It all makes sense now!! Radar is too cute not to keep. Wilbur is really worried that he won't like the cats, but ignore him. Cats are stupid.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
