THE GREAT CAT INCIDENT

WHAT A BRAWL!

Heya Hounders,
Little Jenny here with a bit of a news flash. Yesterday morning we had what mom is referring to as "The Great Cat Incident." Dad had already left for work and all the dogs except for Radar were out in the pen and paddock. Radar was going to be going to work with mom so that he could get his puppy check-up and any required shots at the vet's office where mom works. Well Radar was feeling his usual obnoxious self and he decided to "investigate" Alex the silver-grey Maine Coon Cat. Big Al weighs in at over 20 lbs. Well Big Al wasn't having any of Radar's nonsense this morning so he slapped Radar silly and then went up to the top shelf of one of the two cat trees in the kitchen. Well Radar then turned his attention to the other Maine Coon Cat, Brian Boru, who was lounging on the kitchen table. Boru, is a little on the porky side and, believe it or not, weighs more than Big Al. Boru was a little more tolerant at first, but as Radar persisted Boru got up and hissed at him a bit and then started to slap him. About this time Alex got wind of the brewing battle and he jumped from the cat tree over to the kitchen table and joined forces with Boogers Boru to take on the pup. The two cats together out weigh Radar by more than 5 lbs. There was slapping and hissing and yelping. Alex made some really weird and God awful sound that was kinda scary. Mom and Dad had never heard that sound come out of him before. Anyway, the two cats beat up on Radar and chased him out of the kitchen. Mom was right there so she didn't let anyone get hurt and she said that radar has to learn to let sleeping cats lie. Mom check Radar over very carefully and said that he was fine; no cuts or bruises other than for his ego. After "The Battle," The Cat Gang (that's Big Al, Boogers Boru and Little Jenny - that's me) had to stop over by the local watering hole for some "after action" refreshment. Mom took Radar to work and he got his check-up and shot and was pronounced as A-OK. Dr. Newman says that radar is a little under weight for his age, probably as a result of his generics and the bout with Parvo, She said he is big boned and will catch up shortly as he gets older. Unfortunately we don't have any video of the actual incident but we do have an after action piece from last evening when we had a near repeat of "The Great Cat Incident." Will Radar ever learn?

Radar always remember "discretion is the better part of valor" in other words " "it is good to be brave, but it also good to be careful; if you are careful, you will not get into situations that require you to be brave"

Radar...oh Radar...poor you. You ought to be careful next time and being a newbie in the house doesn't help.

Love,

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.
