Mom-Amia

Heya Hounders,

Here's some more photos of the new Alpaca "Mom," Cassie, and her brand new baby daughter "Amia;" that makes them "Mom-Amia," get it? (Mom -Amia like the movie; hehehehe, we crack ourselves up). Blogger wasn't very cooperative yesterday and it took forever just to upload those 2 photos. We'll do our best to get the rest uploaded on this post. Mom was so excited about seeing the whole live birth from the water breaking through to the baby, Amia, walking around with her mom Cassie. Mom says it only took about 15 minutes from the end of the delivery for Amia to finally work herself up to a somewhat unsteady walking posture. Mom and the Urchin, she's down for a sleepover, are going over to Sorbie Farm this morning to check on how Amia and Cassie are doing. Because Cassie wasn't producing enough milk when Amia was born, Amia has to be bottle feed about 2 ounces of milk every hour for 24 hours. The vet may have to give Cassie an injection to get her to produce more milk if she doesn't do so just from Amia nursing from her. We told mom and the Urchin to take more picture and even some video of Cassie and Amia so we can post more tomorrow. Well, that's it for this morning.

The baby is so cute! And how nice that it was named after your mum.

Little babies are just so wonderful. There's something about new life and the mother's bond to her little one that melts ♥s. Congrats on the birth. Just too cute.

Groaaaaaan. But the baby is really cute. Our mom had seen horses born, but she was really surprised about how the baby alpaca looked.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
