WORDY WEDNESDAY

WE COULD USE A LITTLE HELP HERE!
Heya Hounders,
Sophie, Jubal and Radar here with an impassioned plea for help. We got a newsletter from Ms. Carol and Mr. Skip up at Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary. AHGRR is located in Delray, WV, not far from Winchester, VA which is right on I-81 just north of where I-66 starts eastbound to Washington, DC. Seems that there is a desperate need for some foster homes. If you live in the WV, VA, PA, or MD area (or the Mid-Atlantic region in general) and have a little room in your home and in your heart you might be able to help some of these guys live a somewhat normal life until a permanent home can be arranged via adoption. We'll let y'all read the AHGRR newsletter for yourselves:

"Hi:
We are still in need of foster homes - - - - this is a quiet time of year for adoptions due
to vacation schedules (and I'm sure the economy, too), but it is our very busiest for intakes - for exactly the same reasons.

We have two adorable young golden mixes who would love to leave the shelter and have a second chance. The first is Brock:
Brock is only about 7 months old, and was taken to the shelter by his owners who could no longer care for him.

The second dog we are trying to help is Charlie.
Charlie is another young retriever mix boy - not a year old - who would like to find his forever home, or someone to foster him - until he finds that home.

Because we realize that fostering can put a strain on budgets that may already be stretched to the limit, we are offering to pay "board" to our foster homes in the amount of $5/day (or offer a tax deduction in the same amount - whichever is most beneficial to the foster home). We also will provide all veterinary services, including spay/neuter, vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventatives, and Frontline. We will also be happy to send a new leash and collar.

Foster homes have the right to adopt their foster dog, and/or have an equal voice in choosing a forever home adopter for their foster furkid.

We are also looking for some long term foster home situations for a couple of our Senior dogs. Brady is one of the nicest dogs we have EVER had here - - - - - - we would love to see him in a home environment.

Despite these hard economic times, Skip and I are doing our absolute best to continue to save these precious lives. With your help, we will continue to do it. Please let us know if you can help.

On another note, this weekend is our fundraiser in N. Virginia. ...

And, for those of you who have been keeping track of our boy, Radio (who is now known as Radar), he is growing like a weed, has integrated into his new family, and has a happy, normal future ahead of him.

Thank you - everyone - for your continued support.

Carol

Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue"

Maybe y'all can make a teeny tiny contribution (or a great big whopper one) to AHGRR to help pay off Radar's (Radio's) vet bill from the parvo virus, or just to help care from all the animals that Ms. Carol and Mr. Skip are trying to help. There is no such thing as too small of a contribution; heck, if 500 people donated just $1.00 that would be 500 one dollars which, when you put them together would be approximately $500.00 which is not too little of a donation. You can make a donation through PayPal (http://www.paypal.com/) to ahgrr@frontiernet.net or try over in our blog's right margin or go directly to the AHGRR website. It's tax deductible; at least for a while longer. So please, please help if you possibly can. Just buy one less Starbucks or McDoanlds this week and send that money to Ms. Carol at AHGRR.
- Sophie, Jubal and radar (a.k.a. Radio) and the Bumpass Hounds and Kitties

..and please help the homeless animals at Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary. Amen.

Sorry it's been soooo long since we've visited. Oh we know the need - we are involved with Norcal Golden Retriever Rescue and it's the same here. But I'll run over to the website and have a look. There are just so many deserving pups out there everywhere - ohmy. I hope they find furever homes, dear doggies.
Hugs xo

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
