SUNDAY STUFF

Hey Hounders,
It me Jenny. Huffle asked for us to post a picture of me so Homer J. asked if I would please do today's post. It's about 85 degrees F today and a bit humid; not quite like Huffle is enjoying in Mel-Bin about now; anyway it's already tomorrow there. Mom is doing vet tech stuff today at some horse farm up north. Our cousin The Urchin came over Friday. She went water skiing on the lake yesterday. Dad tows her with the Yamaha Wave Runner while mom catches some rays on the Party Barge. The pontoon only has a small motor so you can't tow skiers or the Big Mabel with it but it is evidently a good base camp to operate from. I never get to go on the boats but no big deal because, SURPRISE, I don't like water. Since today is Sunday I thought I'd post this photo we found on the net that is a very applicable prayer for all domesticated pets. Us cats get chcken breast strip treats in the morning and evening. Alex makes sure that dad doesn't forget us when he's feeding the furry beasts.

I noticed that we haven't posted much about the Newfs lately so I'm sticking in a photo of the two of them out in their pen. Max is the big guy in the front and Shiloh, his sister (litter mates) is the one in back. They're Landseer Newfoundland Dogs. They do get to go to the lake to swim but not on the boats because they'd sink them for sure. They have lots of shade in their pen and Shiloh loves to lay under "her" tree and whenever I sit in the kitchen window and look down at them she usually barks "hello Jenny" up at me. They are usually very gentle giants but it's not wise to provoke them. Jack used to provoke Max and one day Max got angry and kinda taught Jack not to provoke him. After dad paid the vet bills he built a big pen for Max and Shiloh so Jack wouldn't povke them. Our friend Tank in Kansas got mugged recently so Max and Shiloh have offered to fly out to Kansas and "talk" to the gang that mugged theTankster. Max says he thinks that they would be able to reason with the gangsters. Fair warning to unleashed bully dogs in Kansas; Don't Make Us Come Out There. Well that's about it for today. Enjoy the rest of your weekend except y'all like Huffle who are already into the work week. We hope that y'all already had a nice weekend.

I think the puppy may be praying, but I think he's praying that he's big enough to get to the food! :)

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
