RADAR UPDATE

I'M GROWING UP!
Hey Hounders,
It's me, Radar. Dad said that is was about time for me to update y'all on how I'm doing. I'm 7+1/2 months old now. I went to the vet for a weigh-in last week and I tipped the scales at 60.7 lbs. I'm about as tall as Sophie now but I'm about 16 lbs lighter than she is. Our bitey-face matches are a lot more intense than they used to be. I still don't have back yard paddock privileges yet. I go out front for my business and exercise runs. usually either Jubal or Sophie goes out front with me to keep an eye on me. I have back deck privileges on nice days, which has been most of the time this summer. My kennel is still set up in the detached garage but I haven't used it in over a month. At night I sleep in a giant crate in the MBR so that I don't bother the rest of the pack. When mom and dad turn off the lights and it gets dark the other dogs all usually all go to sleep, but since I'm always in the dark, literally, I may or may not want to sleep; sometimes I want to play and that leads to disagreements. I'm as strong as an ox according to dad. I guess that means I'm strong. I still have occasional allergy symptoms but hopefully that will go away after the fall. I still high step to avoid tripping over things. I bump into stuff that isn't usually in that particular place or if I'm exploring new territory. I don't get phased by that though; just part of being blind and I don't know any different anyhow. Mom and dad say that I'm as normal as a blind dog with no tail and having had the Parvo Virus can be. I get along with everyone else, cepting maybe I bother Sophie too much, but that's what she gets for not having set me straight up front like everyone else did. Jack doesn't bother me anymore and dad says that's because I'm as big as he is and probably tougher. Well, that's about all the interesting stuff about me that i know.

Hey Radar...you sure are one good lookin' pup, and we are glad you joined the BH's. But please rethink the Sophie issue? She is truly a sweetie, and you want to be her pal. So give her a rest, OK>

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
