Eagles hand out animal welfare grants

Hey Hounders,
Remember a few weeks back when we asked y'all to send an email or sign a petition being circulated for presentation to The Philadelphia Eagle NFL Team? The Eagles had signed Michael Vick, a convicted dog abuser by promotion of dog fighting, but insisted that they were not condoning animal abuse, just making use of the modern day poster boy for evil. Well, evidently there were enough signatures on the petition to catch someone's attention in the front office because this was in yesterday's news:

Eagles hand out animal welfare grants
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Months after facing criticism for signing convicted dogfighter Michael Vick, the Philadelphia Eagles are making good on a pledge to support animal welfare groups.
The team on Monday unveiled a program called TAWK, which stands for Treating Animals With Kindness. The initiative aims to reduce animal abuse, encourage spaying and neutering and end dogfighting through public education and awareness.
The Eagles awarded grants of $50,000 each to Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society, the Humane Society of Berks County and the Humane Society of the United States.
Team spokeswoman Pamela Browner-Crawley says Vick is working with children to discourage them from dogfighting.
Vick served 18 months in prison for his involvement in a dogfighting ring.

2.- The MG has something in common with a particular Australian beer.

Today's Clue:
3. - The MG shares a home with a girl who is beautiful in Italy.

NEWS FLASH!
RADAR FLUNKED A POOP TEST

Radar must've flunked a poop test because late yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon Dad took Radar out to do his business but he brought along a sandwich bag and we didn't think he intended to eat anything. When Radar did his business, dad turned the bag inside out around his hand and picked up one of Radar's turds in the bag. He looked at it and they went in the house where dad looked at the RT (Radar Turd) and then he put the sandwich bag inside a brown lunch bag that he had marked "Radar Turd 10/13/09." Then he got Radar's leash and took hin out and put him in the Burbanater and drove off. Dad came back a few hours later and "poof" NO RADAR. We asked Mom where Radar was and she told us that Dad took him to Dr Witter's hospital (V-E-T) to get tutored. It must be a really important test cuz Mom said Dad will bring him home on his way home from work on Thursday evening. That's 2 whole days of tutoring, so he must've really flunked his poop test; just figuring.

We somehow missed yesterday about Radar. Hope he comes home soon. Are you taking bets on whether he will have to wear a cone?

Yep, tutoring happens to all boys who live in responsible homes and the girls get sprayed - don't know what they spray them with.

Great news about Vick's team owners. Couldn't betters for animal welfare!

That's great of the Eagles to do that! We do NOT like Michael Vick, we thinks someone should throw HIM in a ring!!! And sorry to hear Radar flunked his poop test. Guess he didn't study hard enuff!

GReat work on the petition.
Now if the Eagle's donated the same amount they pay the evil MV, then me and the fellas might be impressed.

Also heard the BET channel is supposedly doing a reality show about MV....we are boycotting that too.

Mr. Radar, get better soon.

Any updates on Mr. White? We sent his info to a friend Richmond VA, who then shared it with her vet...here's hoping.

Please tell Radar that I got tutored when I was 4 months old and it didn't even bother me.

Although the poop thing is not a pretty picture! :)

No Eagles in our house for a long long long while -- no matter how much money they use to appease their consciences.

And if a certain commentator manages to buy the Rams, no Rams in our house either.

Our Mom does the turd-in bag routine every morning -- but it gets tossed into one of the bins put up for that purpose in our development. Jakey did have a poop test recently though -- which he passed -- so we hope Radar does as well.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
