FINALLY FRIDAY

WHO WANTS A COOKIE?
Hey Hounders,
It all of us "inside" Bumpass Hound (sans Kitties) which just leaves out the outside "Newfs" from muster. Every morning after we have our breakfast dad goes off to the salt mines and leaves mom to give us our morning chewies for about 5 minutes of that elusive peace and quiet. However, when he gets home from work, and frequently on weekends, dad will hold muster of the troops for treat call, be it Happy Hearts Cookies or Milk Bone treats, which we generically refer to as "cookie" also. We are usually required to have our butts on the ground in order to receive our ration. Dad usually conducts roll call and sometimes he screws it up. In this video you'll hear him initially refer to Homer when actually it is J.E.B. receiving his cookie, thus explaining the second call of Homer's name. Sometimes it's confusing with 8 or 10 dogs and Homer and J.E.B. are almost identical twins except that J.E.B. is golden and Homer is red; J.E.B. has a blue collar and Homer has a green collar, however, they're both males and they are both dogs. Well, here's a video clip of an afternoon Milk Bone cookie distribution formation. Note that Shelby Belle outsmarts the dad and is able to collect two cookies by stealthily, and quickly, placing her mouth at the end of dad's hand when Homer (the real Homer) is supposed to be receiving his award.

MONDAY MYSTERY GUEST:
Remember, the MG is one of our followers listed at the top of our blog. These are the clues we've given y'all so far for this week's Monday Mystery Guest:
1.- The MG is hard to see in a snow storm.
2.- To us, the MG is what Gilligan was to the Skipper.
3.- The MG ponders: "To foo or not to foo; that is the question."
4.- The AKC suggests that the MG "is a small, sturdy, white powder puff of a dog whose merry temperament is evidenced by his plumed tail....." (How can they use "sturdy' and "puff" in the same descriptive sentence? - Duh.)

Today's Clue:
5.- Is The MG really "a curly toy dog" as the literal translation of the MG's french breed name suggests?

A CHICKEN IN EVERY POT:
Hey Hounders,
It's me, free running, and very much alive, Radar, your Voting Team Captain. Thank you all again for putting up with the voting contest to get AHGRR some of that Animal Rescue Site grant money and we thank you. Y'all know we started late and had to make up lost ground. We've moved up through #9, #7, #5 to #4 on the in state list for West Virginia. Yesterday we were up to #329 nationwide, and this morning we hopefully have moved up higher to #316. We are hoping to get AHGRR at least a most votes in one week prize. Ms. Carol and Mr. Skip up at AHGRR rescued me so I owe them my life so this is the least I can do to try to help them help other dogs as bad off as I was; dogs like 10 year old Mr. White who, after patiently waiting for a long time, was finally adopted to a new loving home. We are moving in the right direction because of YOUR VOTES, so PLEASE keep voting once a day per computer. Our momentum seems to slowing to gradual, so PLEASE be sure to vote today and everyday; pretty please with sugar on it. We hope y'all don't get upset by our daily reminder about voting. Please go to the bottom of this post to read all about it. Thank you all very much for helping us in this effort. You're helping to save lives and provide health care and shelter for homeless dogs while they're awaiting their furever homes. PLEASE consider posting the voting instructions on your blog and Face Book, Twitter, My Space pages, etc., and asking your readers and friends to join us in our effort; be a pain in the butt like us. EVERY SINGLE VOTE COUNTS; MAKE IT YOURS.

PLEASE VOTE FOR AHGRR
The webpage is somewhat temperamental but the above link is correct. Please give the page enough time to fully load to "Done" before proceeding. Then we want you to enter the following red data into the boxes provided:
Shelter Name: Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue
Country: United States
State: WV
City: Capon Bridge
Then click on "Search." The page will then do its' thing and will end up showing the location of AHGRR: Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary, Inc. Capon Bridge, WV 26714. And, more importantly, a "VOTE" button will appear. Click on the "VOTE" button. You will then have to identify a particular animal in a photo to confirm your vote; this eliminates machine voting. You then will be thanked for your vote to indicate that your vote has registered. You can cast one vote every day for your favorite rescue organization. Voting begins on September 14th, 2009, and ends at midnight (PST) on December 20th, 2009. The more friends you can rally to vote for your favorite rescue organization, the better its chances of winning. Every vote, every day counts - shelters can pull ahead even during the last few days with enough support. Get people involved! The homeless pets awaiting adoption at Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary are counting on us.

Hey..what is this stuff about sitting for treats? That is a rule here, and let me tell you, it is not as easy for a JRT as for a goldie. My springs are set to go off every 8 seconds, and it takes muzzer to long to focus her progressives on my butt, so she misses it, every time!

What we don't have to do to get a Cookie.
But the motto here is "anything for a cookie" including reciting the Gettysburg Address.

I hung on your dad's every word!
We have daily Banana Formation; we have to have our fuzzy butts firmly planted on the floor for that. And for Chow Call. And for cookies. And for.... pup, we ALWAYS have to do the "sit and take it nice" thing.
Ammy liked the sea of waggy Golden tails. Maybe she and Zimmie could go under cover at your place. Ha woo.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
