SATURDAY FUNDAY

BASIC BUMPASS IDENTIFICATION
Hey Hounders,
As those of you who read yesterday's block are so well aware, our very own dad is suffering from oldietitess. He is obviously losing his memory because he can't tell the difference between Homer J. and J.E.B. Now granted, Homer J. , RED dog, has only ben living here about 2 years, but J.E.B., a golden dog, has been living with dad for about 10 years and he was raised from a pup. We think that there are enough differences between the two that dad shouldn't have that tough a time telling who's who. But to make things easier, we've come up with the below comparison photo's showing Homer J. on the left and J.E.B. on the right. We've made dad study them just like he used to study Soviet aircraft recognition photos when he was in the Navy. In the future he will, hopefully, be able to accurately identify all of his charges during treat distribution musters. We all already have different color collars so that dad can tell who's who; next well have to start wearing saddle placard signs with our names embolden in extra large letters.

HOMER J. ---------- vs. ---------- J.E.B.

MONDAY MYSTERY GUEST:
Remember, the MG is one of our followers listed at the top of our blog. These are the clues we've given y'all so far for this week's Monday Mystery Guest:
1.- The MG is hard to see in a snow storm.
2.- To us, the MG is what Gilligan was to the Skipper.
3.- The MG ponders: "To foo or not to foo; that is the question."
4.- The AKC suggests that the MG "is a small, sturdy, white powder puff of a dog whose merry temperament is evidenced by his plumed tail....." (How can they use "sturdy' and "puff" in the same descriptive sentence? - Duh.)
5.- Is The MG really "a curly toy dog" as the literal translation of the MG's french breed name suggests?

Today's clue:
6.- The MG's blog is simply a folly.

HOPE & CHANGE:
(It worked for him, it should work for me.)
Hey Hounders, it's me, free running, and very much alive, Radar, your Voting Team Captain. Thank you all again for putting up with the voting contest to get AHGRR some of that Animal Rescue Site grant money and we thank you. Y'all know we started late and had to make up lost ground. We've moved up through #9, #7, #5 to #4 on the in state list for West Virginia. Yesterday we were up to #316 nationwide, and this morning we have moved up higher to #297. We are hoping to get AHGRR at least a most votes in one week prize. Ms. Carol and Mr. Skip up at AHGRR rescued me so I owe them my life so this is the least I can do to try to help them help other dogs as bad off as I was; dogs like 10 year old Mr. White who, after patiently waiting for a long time, was finally adopted to a new loving home. We are moving in the right direction because of YOUR VOTES, so PLEASE keep voting once a day per computer. Our momentum seems to slowing to gradual, so PLEASE be sure to vote today and everyday; pretty please with sugar on it. We hope y'all don't get upset by our daily reminder about voting. Please go to the bottom of this post to read all about it. Thank you all very much for helping us in this effort. You're helping to save lives and provide health care and shelter for homeless dogs while they're awaiting their furever homes. PLEASE consider posting the voting instructions on your blog and Face Book, Twitter, My Space pages, etc., and asking your readers and friends to join us in our effort; be a pain in the butt like us. EVERY SINGLE VOTE COUNTS; MAKE IT YOURS.

PLEASE VOTE FOR AHGRR
Please go to this website:
http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/clickToGive/shelterchallenge.faces?siteId=3
The webpage is somewhat temperamental but the above link is correct. Please give the page enough time to fully load to "Done" before proceeding. Then we want you to enter the following red data into the boxes provided:
Shelter Name: Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue
Country: United States
State: WV
City: Capon Bridge
Then click on "Search." The page will then do its' thing and will end up showing the location of AHGRR: Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary, Inc. Capon Bridge, WV 26714. And, more importantly, a "VOTE" button will appear. Click on the "VOTE" button. You will then have to identify a particular animal in a photo to confirm your vote; this eliminates machine voting. You then will be thanked for your vote to indicate that your vote has registered. You can cast one vote every day for your favorite rescue organization. Voting begins on September 14th, 2009, and ends at midnight (PST) on December 20th, 2009. The more friends you can rally to vote for your favorite rescue organization, the better its chances of winning. Every vote, every day counts - shelters can pull ahead even during the last few days with enough support. Get people involved! The homeless pets awaiting adoption at Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary are counting on us.

Really, you should expect your DAD to know the difference between each of you!

We don't care if our dad gets our names right as long as we all get treats.

My Great Grannie had eleven (!) children. She used to just go down the list, starting with the oldest..."dorothytheresaglennritajohn......paul!" When they all showed up, she would point and say..."YOU..stay here..the rest of you get busy." Maybe it would work for your dad?

pee ess...this morning, we had a picture of a dog. Muzzer said it was a pit bull..no vote. Then we had a golden, muzzer again entered the breed. It took three more breedcentric replies before she found one she didn't recognize and just put in DOG. Vote counted.

She is hopeless.

Call us anything but not late for dinner.
Hope you enjoy this little story;

When I was introduced to a couple visiting our congregation, I decided to remember their names by noting they were the same as those of two characters in a popular children's story.

After the services I stopped to talk to them, and as they were saying goodbye I teased, "Be careful going up that hill! But you must get that all the time."

They smiled politely but said nothing. After they left, my husband asked, "What was that all about?"

"Jack and Jill. Up the hill. Remember?" I said.

"Yes, but what does that have to do with," he pointed to the couple, "Dick and Jane?"

Around here, we're more used to a silhouette of tanks and stuff, with the question "Friend or Foe?" That wouldn't work here, though - BOTH of you are our friends! And very handsome ones at that!

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
