THE BEGGING STRIP.
Radar, your Voting Team Captain, with my daily plea for your HELP! Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRR) has moved to the #2 position for West Virginia shelters but we've advanced to #138 overall in The Animal Rescue Site monetary grant voting this morning. We only have a little over a week to go so we obviously need lots of help to get into winning range. We'd like to win the top spot in West Virginia. It would be a lot of help if y'all could solicit support from others to help us achieve our goal. Again we ask that you please consider appealing to your social network friends on Facebook, My Space, etc. Our mom simply asked her Facebook friends to vote and she got all positive responses. Please do it for the homeless pups during this Christmas Season of love and charity. I've been trying to give you reasons to vote for AHGRR and I'd like to give you yet one more. This dog, like all the others, is not just a nameless stray wandering through the fields, his name is Toby Too. Toby Too has been waiting in shelter for his new furever home for a little while now. Perhaps you could find room in your heart and home for Toby Too. Maybe you can help sponsor Toby Too while she waits for his new home. Perhaps a small Christmas or holiday donations to AHGRR would give you that Santa feeling that people seem to enjoy having; just look at that fabulous face and imagine that you're looking into Toby Too's warm, loving brown eyes. How can you say no to her. Perhaps you can find it in your heart to provide a homeless pup an AHGRR sponsorship if only for the holidays. Even if you can't, you can still vote for AHGRR and possibly help Toby Too. Here's a biography on Toby Too:

3 1/2 year old Toby is such a good boy. Toby is housebroken, does well on leash, and is a very nice looking boy. Toby is a special dog looking for a special home. We would prefer that he be an "only furkid" and that he have a conventional fenced yard. If you would like to offer Toby Too a forever home, please submit and application which you can download from our website. (http://www.blogger.com/www.almostheaven-golden-retriever-rescue.org) Please email or mail it to AHGRR.

MONDAY MYSTERY GUEST:
The Monday Mystery Guest is one of our followers as listed at the top of our blog. Here's the clues for this week's Monday Mystery Guest:
1.- The MG is a crowd of NINE (9). There are 9 animals at the MG blog.
2.- The MG loves the month between Dec and Feb. The missing month is Jan.
3.- The MG is evidently part brain surgeon. One of the MG dogs, Buddy, is a part time brain surgeon.
4.- The MG's blog title implies a comical agricultural endeavor. That would be a Funny Farm.
5.- The MG seems to be cared for deeply by a hard working single mom. The MG is headed by a loving mom.
6.- One of the things that the MG is prone to saying is "Mercy, Me." A member of the MG is named "Merci."
7.- An MG proverb: six of one, three of another. The MG consists of 6 Felines and 3 Canines.

Time to enter your answer. Who is the MG? Of course it's Jan's Funny Farm.

Here's an important post from Jan's Funny Farm:

Painting for Pets and Auction

We might not have funds to donate but we love to help spread the word when animals are in need or when someone is having a fundraiser to help them. Have you met Sparky the Cavapapipoo (mixed breed) yet? Well, stop by his blog and meet him. He has been a busy dog. Last year he painted a picture that was auctioned off for 100 USD to help Australian animals that were injured in those horrible bushfires.

This year he has painted another picture and it is being auctioned off on eBay to raise money for the no-kill Coquitlam Animal Shelter so the animals there can have a nice Christmas. The bidding started at 99 cents and as we type this, it is at $26.39. Stop by Sparky's for the full story and the eBay link. You can even watch the video of Sparky painting the picture being auctioned at Sparky's blog.

We would also like to mention an auction . Our friend Gracie who recently became the official CB VSquillion Shelter Keeper emailed us the good news: The CB VSquillions are hosting a fundraiser auction slated to start December 14 running through January 31. All proceeds will go to help pay for Fiona's medical expenses, she is having surgery the Tuesday after Christmas. There are a lot of great items on the auction block and hopefully new items will be added each week. I am going to be the auctioneer on this one and I am looking forward to this great event!

ABBY'S EASY TIPS FOR A PET-SAFE HOLIDAY SEASON
It's your pal Abby (Dabby-Do) with some today's helpful hint to help keep us pet healthy and safe during this holiday seasons. Starting on Thanksgiving things might be busy around the house here in the U.S. for the next few weeks. There may be parties and decorating going on in the house. Sometimes we pets can be a little too inquisitive and stick our noses, and mouths, where they don't belong. It's really up to our care givers to take a few precautions to make sure that we all have an enjoyable, and safe, holiday season so please make sure that your peeps read these tips from the SPCA.
Easy Tips for a Pet-Safe Holiday Season“As you prepare for your holiday celebrations,” says Dr. Steven Hansen, Senior Vice President of ASPCA Animal Health Services, “remember to be wary of foods and traditions that can bring potential dangers to companion animals.” In honor of the joyous season to come, ASPCA poison control experts offer these essential tips for having pets at the party in a safe way:
Decorations Can Be Dangerous. Holiday decorations such as breakable ornaments, string, ribbon and dreidels should be kept out of paws’ reach. These traditional decorations can cause choking or severe intestinal problems if swallowed. All holiday light strands, loose wires and electric cords can also pose serious dangers to your pet, especially puppies, who may chew on them.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT

VOTING ENDS DECEMBER 20TH

PLEASE VOTE FOR AHGRR

Please go to this website:
The webpage can sometimes be temperamental but the above link is correct. Please give the page enough time to fully load to "Done" before proceeding. Then we want you to enter the following red data into the boxes provided:
Shelter Name: Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue
Country: United States
State: WV
City: Capon Bridge
To simplify things, you can actually just select "WV" in the state drop down menu and type "Capon" in for the City. Then click on "Search." The page will then do its' thing and will end up showing the location of AHGRR: Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary, Inc. Capon Bridge, WV 26714. And, more importantly, a "VOTE" button will appear. Click on the "VOTE" button. You will then have to identify a particular animal in a photo to confirm your vote; this eliminates machine voting. You then will be thanked for your vote to indicate that your vote has registered. You can cast one vote every day for your favorite rescue organization. Voting began on September 14th, 2009, and ends at midnight (PST) on December 20th, 2009. The more friends you can rally to vote for your favorite rescue organization, the better its chances of winning. Every vote, every day counts - shelters can pull ahead even during the last few days with enough support. Get people involved! The homeless pets awaiting adoption at Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary are counting on us.

Khongrats on some PAWESOME achievements!

If only we had another IP address we'd vote for the GR's but our goal is to keep The Last Resort Reskhue in the Top Ten fur NJ - they weren't in the Top Ten...then #10...then #9!

Sparky is inkhredible - and khwite the charmer too!

Our bid held up fur a while but we are glad to be 'losing' now fur it means more money fur the reskhue!

And woo know, we are ALL about THE RESKHUE!

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
