WE NEED YOUR BUNCHES OF YOUR VOTES - PLEASE.
Radar, your Voting Team Captain, with my daily plea for your HELP! Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRR) was up to #163 in The Animal Rescue Site monetary grant voting this morning. We obviously need lots of help to get into winning range. Please consider appealing to your social network friends on Facebook, My Space, etc. Our mom did and she got all positive responses. Do it for the homeless pups during this Christmas Season of love and charity. I've been trying to give you reasons to vote for AHGRR and I'd like to give you one more; his name is Zeus. Zeus has been patiently waiting for his new furever home for a quite a while now. Perhaps you could find room in your heart and home for Zeus. Maybe you can help sponsor Zeus while he waits for his new home. Even if you can't, you can still vote for AHGRR and possibly help Zeus. Here's a biography on Zeus:
-
3 year old Zeus needs to find a forever home. Zeus is housebroken and gets along with most other dogs. AHGRR will require a standard fence for Zeus and he will only be placed in a home with adults only or children well into their teenage years. Zeus is just too active for the youngsters, though he settles and behaves beautifully for adults. Zeus is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and neutered. If you would like to offer Stacey a forever home, please submit and application which you can download from our website (www.almostheaven-golden-retriever-rescue.org) Please email or mail it to AHGRR.

ARMY-NAVY GAME : 6 DAYS
In order to minimize the pain and suffering to our readers we have convinced our most loving, kind and gentle dad to put all of his Army-Navy Game stuff in one section of the blog post so that in those extremely rare circumstances where someone might possibly, for some insane reason, not be interested in THE Game they can simply skip this section. We sincerely appreciate the empathy that our blogging buddies (i.e. Gus) have expressed to us for the trials and tribulations that we are being forced to endure this entire week. At both West Point and Annapolis, this is ARMY-NAVY Week and our dad has decided that our house, pen & paddock included, is simply an annex of the Naval Academy for the whole week. Dad is the Superintendent, Mom is the Commandant, and the rest of we Bumpass Hounds are all surrogate midshipmen. Homer J., Jubal and J.E.B. are all First Classmen (seniors), Sophie, Alex, and Boru are Second Classmen (juniors), Shelby Belle, Jack and Abby are Third Classmen (sophmores), and Max, Shiloh and Radar are Fourth Classmen, i.e. PLEBES (freshmen). Gravity rules at USNA; everything flows downhill. Remember, all Plebe vocalizations to any officers and upper classmen begin and end with the last two words to The Star Spangled Banner (our National Anthem), which are:

"BEAT ARMY"

Life Lessons From Boru:

During the first space rendezvous on December 15, 1965, between Gemini Six and Gemini Seven, Captain Jim Lovell USN in Gemini 7 asked 'how's the visibility?'...'pretty bad, I can see through the window and see you fellows inside...' replied Captain Wally Schirra USN (USNA 1945) along with Lieutenant Colonel Tom Stafford USAF (USNA 1952) in Gemini 6...later Schirra held up a sign to his window: 'Beat Army', for the benefit of Gemini 7 commander Lieutenant Colonel Frank Borman USAF (USMA 1950).
This photograph of the Gemini 7 spacecraft was taken from the hatch window of the Gemini 7 spacecraft during rendezvous and station-keeping maneuvers at an altitude of approximately 160 miles above the Earth. The two spacecraft are approximately nine feet apart. Gemini 6 and Gemini 7 launched on December 15, 1965 and December 4, 1965, respectively.

PLEASE VOTE FOR AHGRR
Please go to this website:
http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/clickToGive/shelterchallenge.faces?siteId=3
The webpage is somewhat temperamental but the above link is correct. Please give the page enough time to fully load to "Done" before proceeding. Then we want you to enter the following red data into the boxes provided:
Shelter Name: Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue
Country:
United States
State:
WV
City:
Capon Bridge
To simplify things, you can actually just select "WV" in the state drop down menu and type "Capon" in for theCity. Then click on "Search." The page will then do its' thing and will end up showing the location of AHGRR: Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary, Inc. Capon Bridge, WV 26714. And, more importantly, a "VOTE" button will appear. Click on the "VOTE" button. You will then have to identify a particular animal in a photo to confirm your vote; this eliminates machine voting. You then will be thanked for your vote to indicate that your vote has registered. You can cast one vote every day for your favorite rescue organization. Voting began on September 14th, 2009, and ends at midnight (PST) on December 20th, 2009. The more friends you can rally to vote for your favorite rescue organization, the better its chances of winning. Every vote, every day counts - shelters can pull ahead even during the last few days with enough support. Get people involved! The homeless pets awaiting adoption at Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary are counting on us.

Wow...your Mom must have her hands full! But I salute HOMER!!! Way to go, big buddy - such a controlled pack!!! Do they ever congratulate you, special boy? Im sure they do!

OK, we voted for the shelter, and we voted for the Navy (but you have to dig to vote) and then we noticed that we are voting for the Navy in a state that is currently colored army green. Are we gonna be in trouble here?

pee ess...we don't have any of those college rivalries in our house. Minnesota only has a couple of good years every millenium, so dad doesn't get too excited. Muzzer just counts her frostbite scars.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
