TOUCHDOWN TUESDAY

THE GRIM REAPER RADAR
Radar goes through toys like Carter goes through little liver pills. Mom gave him a "Super Tough" stuffy squeaky and Radar ripped a hole in it. Dad stuffed all of the lose stuffy stuff back inside the rip and blue duck taped the toy about a zillion times and he gave it back to Radar. Dad wasn't paying attention to what was going on in the kitchen and when he came back he saw just how determined Radar can be. Jack was just an innocent bystander who witnessed the carnage:

WE NEED VOTES!
Radar, your Voting Team Captain, with my daily plea for your HELP! Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRR) moved from #3 in West Virginia to the #2 position and up to #156 overall in The Animal Rescue Site monetary grant voting this morning. We obviously need lots of help to get into winning range. Please consider appealing to your social network friends on Facebook, My Space, etc. Our mom did and she got all positive responses. Do it for the homeless pups during this Christmas Season of love and charity. I've been trying to give you reasons to vote for AHGRR and I'd like to give you one more; his name is Justice. Justice hasn't been waiting for his new furever home for too long yet. Perhaps you could find room in your heart and home for Justice. Maybe you can help sponsor Justice while he waits for his new home. Even if you can't, you can still vote for AHGRR and possibly help Justice. Here's a biography on Justice:
8 - 10 year old Justice is simply a sweetheart of a dog. He's a good looking, sweet dispositioned boy that is lively and always looking for fun, fun, fun. Unfortunately, that fun may lie on the other side of a fence, so he will need a 6' fence, invisible fence, or someone willing to take the time to leash walk him (and he is soooooo worth the effort). If you would like to offer Justice a forever home, please submit and application which you can download from our website (www.almostheaven-golden-retriever-rescue.org) Please email or mail it to AHGRR.

ABBY'S EASY TIPS FOR A PET-SAFE HOLIDAY SEASON
It's your pal Abby (Dabby-Do) with some today's helpful hint to help keep us pet healthy and safe during this holiday seasons. Starting on Thanksgiving things might be busy around the house here in the U.S. for the next few weeks. There may be parties and decorating going on in the house. Sometimes we pets can be a little too inquisitive and stick our noses, and mouths, where they don't belong. It's really up to our care givers to take a few precautions to make sure that we all have an enjoyable, and safe, holiday season so please make sure that your peeps read these tips from the SPCA.

Easy Tips for a Pet-Safe Holiday Season
“As you prepare for your holiday celebrations,” says Dr. Steven Hansen, Senior Vice President of ASPCA Animal Health Services, “remember to be wary of foods and traditions that can bring potential dangers to companion animals.” In honor of the joyous season to come, ASPCA poison control experts offer these essential tips for having pets at the party in a safe way:
Go Tinsel-less. Kitties love this sparkly, light-catching “toy” that’s easy to bat around and carry in their mouths. But a nibble can lead to a swallow, which can lead to an obstructed digestive tract, severe vomiting, dehydration and possible surgery. It’s best to brighten your boughs with something other than tinsel.

ARMY-NAVY GAME : 4 DAYS
In order to minimize the pain and suffering to our readers we have convinced our most loving, kind and gentle dad to put all of his Army-Navy Game stuff in one section of the blog post so that in those extremely rare circumstances where someone might possibly, for some insane reason, not be interested in THE Game they can simply skip this section. Remember, all Plebe vocalizations to any officers and upper classmen begin and end with the last two words to The Star Spangled Banner (our National Anthem), which are:
"BEAT ARMY"

Even in Iraq, Army gets the message.

Life Questions From Boru:

Will we ever be able to beat Navy?
(Sorry kid, but Hell NO!)

PLEASE VOTE FOR AHGRR
Please go to this website:
http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/clickToGive/shelterchallenge.faces?siteId=3
The webpage is somewhat temperamental but the above link is correct. Please give the page enough time to fully load to "Done" before proceeding. Then we want you to enter the following red data into the boxes provided:

Shelter Name: Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue
Country:
United States
State:
WV
City:
Capon Bridge
To simplify things, you can actually just select "WV" in the state drop down menu and type "Capon" in for the City. Then click on "Search." The page will then do its' thing and will end up showing the location of AHGRR: Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary, Inc. Capon Bridge, WV 26714. And, more importantly, a "VOTE" button will appear. Click on the "VOTE" button. You will then have to identify a particular animal in a photo to confirm your vote; this eliminates machine voting. You then will be thanked for your vote to indicate that your vote has registered. You can cast one vote every day for your favorite rescue organization. Voting began on September 14th, 2009, and ends at midnight (PST) on December 20th, 2009. The more friends you can rally to vote for your favorite rescue organization, the better its chances of winning. Every vote, every day counts - shelters can pull ahead even during the last few days with enough support. Get people involved! The homeless pets awaiting adoption at Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary are counting on us.

My boyfriends mom has a dog like Radar - the first thing that happens is it has to be ripped apart. It can be played with after it is ripped up but it has to be basically destroyed first.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
