SEEKING DAKOTA DOGSTERS

WE INTERRUPT THIS BITEY-FACE MATCH TO BRING YOU THIS BULLETIN:

Hey Hounders,
Sophie and Radar here in the middle of a crucial Bitey-Face match for The Bumpass Hound Championship Bitey-Face Title. Anyway, our update is that we still DO NOT have Guest Book signatures from either North Dakota or South Dakota. However, our best little tough guy buddy, Tank (a.k.a. The Tankster) from Kansas (lions and tiger and bears, oh my!) suggested that if we went through the Dogster website, of which we are already members, we could go to the South Dakota and the North Dakota groups and ask them to sign our Guest Book. DUH! BRILLIANT SUGGESTION; why didn't we think of that? (Because we but Shiloh in charge of the task, that's why.) Anyway, so that's what we did this morning that caused us to be late getting our post up. Sounds as good as any other excuse to us. The radio station lady in North Dakota never signed the Guest Book or even got back to us. So much for temperamental stars. For the Manhattan Project (Ao4) our cuzin, The Urchin, graduated from Army JROTC PLT yesterday. She'll be starting High School this September. You'd think that being as close to Dalhgren as Spotsylvania County is that they'd have a NAVY JROTC, but no. The county has four high schools with two separate Army JROTC units each covering two of the the high schools. Ft. A.P. Hill is just over the east side of I-95. Dad says that we should bet with the Ao4 on the outcome of this year's Big Game (12/12/2009); maybe an order of Happy Hearts Cookies? May the best team win (again). Bring it on Storm, Dave, Ammy and Zim. Avast. Ahoy. Shiver me timbers. All Ahead Flank (steak?)

GENERAL QUARTERS - GENERAL QUARTERS.

ALL HANDS MAN YOUR BATTLE STATIONS.

DO YOU WANT TO PLAY A GAME?

PERHAPS A NICE GAME OF CHESS? THERMONUCLEAR WARFARE?

Hey Hounder,
It's me; Alex P. Kitten. Any guesses from what movie we stole the title lines. It was a WOPR.
Still no Guest Book signatures from North Dakota or South Dakota. Don't any dogs live out there? Maybe a rogue feline perhaps? Maybe the radio star lady hasn't opened her fan e-mail yet.
Our cuzin Caitlin is visiting and whenever she's here her and mom play a game with five little square blue rocks. They throw them out on the table from a black cup and then write stuff down. Sometimes dad plays too. Boru and I like to lay up on the other end of the table and watch. We used to play hockey with the rocks but mom didn't seem to think that was a good idea and we were "asked" to stop. Anyway, I've been watching for some time now and I think I know how to play. So I ask you, "Do you want to play a game.?" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086567/

MAP QUEST PART 1 = NORTH DAKOTA

CAN ANYONE HELP US OUT?
Hey Hounders,
It's Homer J. with today's blog post. I know that I'm late but dad was tied up today and he has to tun on the 'puter for us to do the blog; so it's his fault that I'm late today.
As you probably know, we've been trying to get signatures in our guest book up at the top of the blog from all 50 states and D.C. Well, we were doing pretty good for a while but then we hit a snag. Seems we're now only missing two states that just happen to share the same last name. Yep, it's North Dakota and it's sister state South Dakota. We went through the entire Dogs With Blogs registry and there aren't any Dakota Dogs. We've asked the Hounders to see if anyone knows a dog in the Dakotas; no luck. So being desperate we decided to try to contact a (hopefully) kindly soul that might be able to sign our Guest Book ad lives in the Dakotas. Our first target is North Dakota. We explored the Internet and found a very beautiful woman who is the most famous morning radio host in all of North Dakota. Her name is Shelly and she is the star of KEGK-FM radio. We stole her picture from the stations website.
This is what North Dakota looks like. It is touching Canada, Montana, Minnesota and, of course, South Dakota.

NORTH DAKOTA

This is Ms. Shelly, who we hope will be kind enough to sign our guest book. We are gonna send her an e-mail and politely ask if she'll sign our Guest Book for us. She might even know someone from South Dakota. We thought we'd do a little advertising for North Dakota so we have listed their tourism website. We have also listed the radio station, KEGK-FM, website. You can listen to their broadcast stream. KEGK is "The Eagle" and not to be confused with The Eagles which is a 70s rock band that our dad used to like. Anyway, here some stats on the radio station and about North Dakota. Does anyone remember the TV show "The Electric Company?" They had a character named Fargo North and he was a Decoder.
He was Fargo North, Decoder. We think that the movie "Fargo" was about North Dakota.

This is Ms. Shelly's Bio from the station's website. You can e-mail her and ask that she sign our Guest Book.

Well, that's today's quest. Wish us luck. If it works we try South Dakota next to close out our quest.

LIFE IS GRRRRRREAT

Hey Hounders, It's me Jubal, proudly wearing my Dogs With Blogs ballcap. Boy am I in a GReat frame of mind today. Yesterday morning we got to sort out the stuff that came in the GReat big box that we received on Friday. We know that a lot of our friends, especially Huffle and all the Sibes were able to figure out what was in the box. It was chock full of yummy goodness COOKIES. Not just any cookies mind

you, but the ultimate canine delight cookie, HAPPY HEARTS. Happy Hearts Cookies are not only a great treat, but they are made of only the best natural stuff and they come in a a wide variety of GReat flavors. Tree Limb and Driveway Rock are about the only two GReat crunchy tastes that Happy Hearts don't come in. And boy are they well packaged. They came all the way to bustling Bumpass from Kenner, LA and not one single cookie was damaged; that's something. Dad laid all of the cookies out on the kitchen table. He couldn't believe how many there are. He had to have Boru guard the spread to make sure that none of us dogs stole any of the merchandise.

We're all so excited that we've been bouncing around the house singing an old Andy Williams song:

It's our Happy Hearts you hear

Crunching loud and crunching clear

And it's all because they're near me, to love

Take our Happy Hearts away

And We'll surely make you pay

In our mouths they're gonna stay, they're our love

Here's what dad did with our personalized Happy Hearts. He made a happy heart out of Happy Hearts. Now Ms. Gerri at Happy Hearts Cookies can say that her cookies are Bumpass Hound tested and Bumpass Hound recommended. We'll be doing further taste tests over the coming weeks and we'll keep you posted. And we are volunteering to do as much flavor testing for Ms. Gerri that she may feel necessary. We're here for you girl.

OBTW: As of 1 August 09 we still need the following 2 states: North Dakota and South Dakota. If you're from one of these states, please sign our guest book. If you have a friend that lives in one of these states could you please get them to visit us and sign our book.

WE RECEIVED A BIG BOX TODAY
Hey Hounders,
Look what was on our front porch when mom, dad, and The Urchin got back to the house yesterday afternoon. It's a big box and it's addressed to THE BUMPASS HOUNDS. So that means it's mine because I'm a Bumpass Hound. However, dad says that the box is for all of us. He told us last week that a package would be coming soon. Then Tuesday night he told us it should be here on Friday; that's today, so he was right again. Boy, dad sure is a genius; and he's handsome too. Dad let me go out on the porch to check out the box. Boy does it smell good. I can't tell just what it is inside but it sure has my interest. The box is almost as big as me. Dad says that we are all really gonna like what's inside the box. It came all the way to Bumpass, VA from Kenner, LA. Dad carried it inside and put it out in the kitchen. Only Jubal and I were in the house so we got to open it up with a little help from dad. Boy were we disappointed, it's a box of bubble wrap. Well that's what we thought at first, but super sniffer Jubal said "not so fast Sophie." Jubal gave it a few super sniffs and said he believes that the box has some kind of yummy goodness inside. Dad says that we'll give y'all a complete accounting of the box contents on tomorrow's blog. He said that this is a blogger cliffhanger.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
