BAD LUCK FRIDAY

BUT IT WASN'T THE 13TH!
Hey Hounders,
Jenny here with a report on yesterday. It was Friday, but it wasn't the 13th. Mom and dad had to go up to Fredericksburg to see the awfulpetic surgeon about mom's ankle and foot. The plan was to go to the auto body shop and pick up dad's car which is all repaired from where he hit the 2 deers a few weeks ago. So M&D took the suburban up town; Sophie got to go along for the ride. At the doctor's, mom had another series of xrays taken. The bone doctor told her that the ankle break is healing nicely but that the foot bone break seems to be gapping. He also believes that the inflamation in mom's foot has cause a skin infection so he put her on antibiotics to clear that up. He also gave her a prescription anti-inflamatory since the OTC stuff wasn't working well enough. Mom has to go back in 3 more weeks for more xrays and, hopefully, to have her walking boot replaced with an ankle brace. If the foot bone hasn't progressed then the doctor says that surgery would be an option. Mom was kinda bummed out by that prospect but she's looking forward to losing the boot. After the doctor visit they went and picked up dad's car and he took then took it home and mom took the burban to get her prescriptions. About 45 minutes later dad was almost home when mom called him on the cell and said that the burban had dropped its' "D" transmission. She said that the "1" and "2" and "R" were still working. Since she wasn't very far from the dealer mom bought it from dad told hger to take it there. Dad and Sophie had to go back up to town to pick up mom. Fortunately the drive train warranty still covers the burban so the fix should be on them. After that mom and dad took Sophie to get a burger before comin home. So we have dad's car back but the burban is in the shop to get looked on next week and mom's little car is in getting a 40,000 mile servicuing but can be picked up this afternoon. Talk about a rash of bad luck over the last 4 weeks.

When it rains, it pours. And when the car breaks down, it's usually raining!

Bad luck comes in threes, right? And the man was very hard to find. We had to biggefy it to find him.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
