A MOST LOVED DOG

PLEASE SHARE YOUR LOVE
J.E.B. here with a few special requests.
#1. Don't forget to vote, hopefully for AHGRR, at the bottom of this post.
#2. Ya know, sometimes "we" get all wrapped up in "us." We fall into the "me" generation outlook. What's going on in "our" lives and look at how cool "I" am, etc. Well guess what bubbas, that ain't how it is. There are other families and other pups that have lives going on too and their problems and situations are usually a lot more important than "ours." This weekend a much beloved canine family member passed to The Rainbow Bridge. His passing was relatively unexpected, not that that makes it any easier for his family to cope with. We are humbled by how loved this dog was to his family. We were mesmerized by the expressions of love and the sense of loss that his family felt. We recommend that if you haven't stopped by Ziggy Marley's blog that you stopover there and read a few of the posts; it won't be a dark and depressing visit; in fact it is enlightening and heart warming to see how loved Ziggy is by those he left behind. Sure, ya might get a bit choked up but that's life. We're sure that his family would appreciate you sharing your condolences with them.
#3. Also, our blogging buddy Lucky Luke has to go under the knife again and he, and his mom, could sure use as much support and as many good vibes, positive thoughts and prayers as you would care to share with them. So hows about popping over to
Luke's blog and leaving some love for him, The Bleu and their mom.

We thank ya for caring.

The All New
$100,000.00 Shelter Challenge
Is Underway
#1 in West Virginia
#29 Nationally
Hey Hounders,
Homer J., an Almost Heaven Golden Retriever satisfied customer (i.e. alive), here with a big deal post. How can you resist a mug like mine? We Bumpass Hounds know that it seems just like yesterday that we ended the last Shelter Challenge. In that challenge, Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary started late, about 6 weeks into the competition, but due to your efforts AHGRR won $1,000.00 for being the top shelter in West Virginia. Well this time we started on day #1 and we were #1 from West Virginia. Since it's early, y'all might want to see if a shelter that you currently support is in the competition and vote for that shelter on a daily basis and we understand and have no problem with that whatever. HOWEVER, if you don't have a dedicated shelter we ask that you please (please & pretty please) consider supporting Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary, Delray, WV. AHGRR saved our late brother Gordon and is the reason that The Bumpass Hounds includes me, Homer J., as well as both Abby, and Sophie. And believe me, we're all glad to be living here with our brothers, sisters, mom and dad, and even those darn cats.

PLEASE VOTE FOR AHGRR
Please go to this website:

The webpage can sometimes be temperamental but the above link is correct. Please give the page enough time to fully load to "Done" before proceeding. Then we want you to enter the following red data into the boxes provided:

Shelter Name: Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue
Country: United States
State: WV
City: Capon Bridge
To simplify things, you can actually just select "WV" in the state drop down menu and type "Capon" in for the City. Then click on "Search." The page will then do its' thing and will end up showing the location of AHGRR: Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary, Inc. Capon Bridge, WV 26714. And, more importantly, a "VOTE" button will appear. Click on the "VOTE" button. You will then have to identify a particular animal in a photo to confirm your vote; this eliminates machine voting. You then will be thanked for your vote to indicate that your vote has registered. You can cast one vote every day, from each individual computer, for your favorite rescue organization. Voting began on January 18th, 2010, and ends at midnight (PST) on April 18th, 2010. The more friends you can rally to vote for your favorite rescue organization, the better its chances of winning. Every vote, every day counts - shelters can pull ahead even during the last few days with enough support. Get people involved! The homeless pets awaiting adoption at Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary are counting on us.

To find out how much you've helped and what your effort is going towards, please read our AHGRR update blog post: http://bumpasshounds.blogspot.com/2010/01/how-are-things-at-ahgrr-hey-hounders.html

We were all very sad to hear about Ziggy - such a sweet boy he was. And poor Luke, here he goes again. We have our paws crossed for things to go well for him.

We are always sad to hear about blogging pups going over the rainbow bridge. It's amazing how we can be friends with pups who we've never met in real life.

Kat is absolutely correct. We have never physically met most of our very best friends. We think that we are all GReat friends because we all have so much in common. We all share the same life situations and interests. Our folks like knowing that there are other folks that feel the same way about their animal companions as they do. It is amazing to us how animal families in Italy, Australia, Britian, Ireland, The Netherlands, Singapore and all around the world are pretty much all the same as us. We are not that different and we are all friends; wouldn't it be GReat if the United Nations got along and cared as much about each other as well as the Dogs With Blogs get along and care?

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
