WE NEED YOUR LOVE & SUPPORT FOR A FRIEND

Hey Hounders,

This is our new friend Chandler. Chandler looks a lot like Homer J. Chandler is a 12 year old Golden Retriever living out the rest of his days in the comfort of his home in Colorado. He shares his mom and dad with their two kids, a 13 year old boy and a 5 year old girl, and his canine sister, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Hannah, and his new canine brother, a Golden Retriever puppy named Henry. In case you don't know Chandler already, he has something called lymphoma and there really isn't anything anyone can do for him; it's a terminal condition. He's just enjoying soaking in every last minute he can with his family; he is literally being spoiled and loved to death. Chandler is preparing for his journey to The Rainbow Bridge.
We want to think of Chandler as a loved dog that will not be making this preparation alone, he will have his family and his friends. We just want to try to make sure that Chandler knows that he has lots and lots of friends; more friends than he has ever had before. Chandler's first blog post was only about 2 weeks ago, after he had already been diagnosed with the lymphoma. In it he wrote this:
"I've recently been diagnosed with lymphoma. This makes my humans sad but I'm going to use every last minute to enjoy their company and show them how much I love them. I also have so much to teach Hannah and Henry - they are both so young and have so much to learn."
"The vet is going to help mom and dad decide when I need to go to the "bridge". He estimates 3-4 weeks at most. I'll take it ! I need lots more hugs and kisses before then ! I know it makes my family very sad but I've been a good boy and will remember how much they loved me and took extra special care of me !"

We'd appreciate it very much if y'all would go over to Chandler's blog and make your introductions to Chandler; perhaps offer him some support and encouragement to him and his family. Be sure to leave a comment so he knows that you visited. Why not sign up to follow his blog during his remaining time through this journey? Please check in with Chandler frequently and get your friends and followers to do the same. Don't worry about yourselves and how you'll feel during Chandler's ordeal, rather worry about Chandler and how him and his family are feeling. If you have to pass up visiting us here at our blog to do it, that's OK with us, we understand. We sure don't want Chandler to be facing this situation without the DWB community support. You can read ALL of his blog posts, done over the last few weeks, in just a half hour or so. You'll get to know a GReat Golden and it may help him feel a bit more loved than he is now as impossible as that is. His blog can be found at: "http://ourwaggingtales.blogspot.com" We thank you very, very much if you'll do this for us, for youselves and for Chandler and his family. We remember when our bestest buddy Spencer was preparing for his journey to The Rainbow Bridge and we want Chandler's passing to be remembered as well. If Chandler and his family didn't want to share his situation they wouldn't be posting about it. If you have any time left after your visit to Chandler, perhaps you can remember to vote for Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary in the Shelter Challenge, instructions are at the top of our blog page. Thanks for caring.

We met Chandler the other day. Very handsome guy. We hope his journey will be peaceful. Perhaps he'll meet our Crystal there when he arrives.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
