ESCAPE ROUTE STILL OPEN

WE"RE ALL SICK; WE HAVE A FEVER;
CABIN FEVER

Hey Hounders,
Well it's Monday morning and we're all coming down with cabin fever. The big tree that fell across the back paddock fence is still there. Dad put two of the downstairs patio chairs across the paddock entrance so that when we go down the deck stairs we only have access to the Newfs pen. that means that dad has to do active traffic management so that the Newfs are in their kennel crates when we are allowed out and we are all in the house when the Newfs go out to their pen. On top of that, Abby is small enough to get around the chairs and make it down to the escape route so dad has to accompany us out when Abby is with us. this has greatly restricted our outside time and we're spending most of the day inside with mom. of course mom is still wearing her soft cast boot for her broken foot and ankle. Ya might say that we're all having a little too much together time. Radar keeps bumping into the rest of us and none of us seem to know what to do with ourselves and tempers have been getting a little thin. We've had a few "discussions" amongst ourselves and mom and dad seem a little irritable 9i.e. short tempered) about it. On top of that dad broke a shear pin on the snow blower yesterday so the cars are all still snow bound. Only the Bronco Rescue Wagon is mobile, it was able to bust out like in a TV commercial. Most of the surrounding areas have had no power since Saturday. For some reason, knock on wood, we were not affected by any power outage. If we loose power that means no lights, no cooking, no heat (we don't have a fireplace), no water pump, no water, no flushing toilets, etc. Living in the country makes it stressful if the power goes out. Dad says he'd have to take mom over to sissy Sarah's house and he'd stay here and do primitive camping with us. We had a little power flickering Saturday night but not even enough to trip the appliance timers into the "flashing" mode. Dad couldn't go to work today and he has to try to fix the snow blower to get the driveway clear. Maybe the county will get to our development today to plow the streets. There are lots of tree down on all the roads so the county has crews out cutting. Dad took the Bronco down to the local general store yesterday to get gas for the Bronco and snow blower and chain saw. They had been plowed out and the pumps and parking areas were all cleared but the store had lost power and was closed. So things, in general, are a mess. Fortunately dad was able to clear the snow and ice off of the antenna farm so we have Direct TV and Satellite Internet signals. It is supposed to get above freezing today so we should have some melting. It is gonna rain tomorrow so that will make things very, very muddy. So dad has to have some morning coffee and then get out. His cardiologist doesn't want him to do much shoveling so he really needs to get that snow blower fixed or we'll be stuck here until it all melts; that will probably take months.

We know the cabin fever bug too...we have had Dad home two mondays in a row, and muzzer is running low on Patience! But...we finally got some snows! Yeah, I know. You are tired of it.

Mayemphis hardly ever gets snow. Since we moved here in June of 2008, we have had it Three (3!) times. Our neighbors are looking at us kinda funny, and in these parts, that can be a problem

We will take a picture of the sun and post it for all the folks back East to see, lest they forget. It snowed a little in Denver, but not enough to cause concern. We have a snow removal plan here, it's called "Spring".

That stinks that you are all stuck inside most of the time, but we are glad that you still have power.

Stay Warm!

Being stuck inside is no fun...but then again, we don't get to go out, so we REALLY don't know what we're missing.

Being stuck inside, can be fun, just laying around, taking snoozes, and staying warm.
Just think of all the mud all this snow will make.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
