PHRIDAY PHUN PHOTOS

WE'RE HEADED OUTSIDE

Hey Hounders,
Well here we all are on a fine Friday morning. The sun is shining and it's supposed to be above freezing most of the day. The weather forecast for the weekend mentioned a probability of the "s" word, which mom doesn't want to hear anymore. But hopefully we'll get some melting. Dad did some shoveling yesterday (that's a no-no) because the snow blower is still busted and he planned on going to work today. HOWEVER, he slipped on the ice in the shade part of the front steps yesterday and did a Dick Van Dyke fall and fell down on the stairs. He hit his butt (tail bone) spine and back of his head on the stairs. He just laid there a minute. Sophie and Radar were out with him and they said that dad said some of his Navy words that mom doesn't like him to say. After a minute he got up and then the three of them came back inside. So today dad is going to see the doctor. At least he's mobile even if he's hurting a bit, perhaps some pain killers are in order. But anyway, we get to come and go for the time being. We spent most of yesterday outside getting good and tired and blowing off pent up hostilities towards each other. Dad opens the back door that leads to the outside deck and then we go down the stairway that dad designed. When we moved in there wasn't any stairway down off of the back deck which dad says was pretty stupid. We go down the stairs and it drops us out on the patio under the deck. The patio is inside the big fenced area that includes our paddock and the Newfs pen area. So as long as dad keeps the gate from the patio to the driveway closed and no big trees topple through the fence, chances of escape are minimized. So here we see a bunch of us at the deck landing ready to head out. Jack was waiting on the deck for the crowd to clear out. there's Homer J. down in the paddock. Dad called us in for breakfast after we had time to take care of business, if ya know what we mean. Shelby and Homer were coming up when dad took their pictures. Of course Shelby Belle, Abby and J.E.B. don't come in the kitchen to eat, they go back downstairs and go into the garage kennel from the patio. Those three plus the two Newfs , Max and Shiloh, eat in the kennel. Homer J., Jubal, Jack, Sophie and Radar eat in the house. Radar eats in his crate in the MBR and the rest in the kitchen. So tempers have eased and we all seem to be getting along for the time being. Dad says we will be out most of the day in order to tire us out. We hope y'all have a good day today.

We want to thank every one that stopped over to Harry's blog and left such nice comments and words of support. If you haven't done so yet, please stop over there when you get a chance. Oh no! You better wrap your humans in bubble wrap. The last thing you need is for your dad to have something broken too!

Im also sorry to hear about "Dad's" fall. That type of fall can be nasty. Hope he's not in too much pain and not too badly injured. Please give him 'lotsalicks' from us all.

Oh, dear, we went over to Harry's blog and ... what can we say? Such a loving tribute to his mom.

We click every day at Animal Rescue and we're glad you finally told us we could vote at the same time. It is so much easier now that we don't have to come back to your blog and search for the url.

Hope your dad is okay! It sounds like he really hurt himself in that fall.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
