SOPHIE IS HAVING A DONNER PARTY

WE GOT
TEN MORE INCHES
OF SNOW TODAY.
It's a good thing that we do not have access to fire arms or we would definitely be shooting each other. It started snowing late Tuesday afternoon, a heavy wet snow. It took dad 3 hours to drive home and he didn't get here until after 7:30 PM. He said that he was backed up at an accident and had to take a 20 mile detour. And then he got held up at another car that had driven off the road. He said he could only drive about 25 MPH because the road was so slippery and visibility so bad. (There was a 50+ car pileup on I-64 down south a piece by Williamsburg) It snowed all night and was still snowing this morning. Dad says that we have about 10 inches of new snow on top of the 20 inches that we have from the last storm that was on top of some remnants of the 10 inches that we had from the storm before that. Of course we have been stuck in the house again for most of the days. We are snowed in like the infamous Donner Party crossing the Sierras. And not unlike the Donner Party, we, well at least one of us, has taken to canalbalism. Sophie, driven by severe cabin fever, took to eating her own flank steak. This morning dad spotted her hot spot and put all sorts of meds on it and told Soph to "leave it." Soph continued to gnaw at her flank and dad warned her that she would be sentenced to a period encased in the "Cone of Shame." Soph continued her gnawing so dad dug out the CoS and affixed it firmly over her head. Da-Da; no more gnawing. Dad says that Sophie will be stuck in the CoS for from 3 to 5 days.

Sophie; you don't want to wear the cone of shame until spring, do you?

Get a good book, sit back and relax and try not to let all the togetherness cause you to be the championship licker.

Hey BH's! Wow, we've been away a long time and have a lot of catching up to do. All that snow looks fun...our grass just sprouted here, hee, hee. Kona is sporting a hotspot in solidarity with Sophie but he hasn't had the COS yet.

Sophie, try to at least just chew on the cats.

I know you're complaining about the snow, but I would gladly take some off your paws.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
