WORDY WEDNESDAY - POST #499

 MALOCCLUSION? - 499TH BLOG POST
Hey Hounders,
This is our 499th blog post; the next one will be our 500th posting effort.
We were reading Mogley's blog post the other day about misaligned jaws.  It seems that Lady, a foster dog living with Mogley and Bella while awaiting her new furever home,  has a mis-aligned jaw.  Lady's left lower canine tooth is always outside of her jowl and makes it look as though she is grinning.  Well we told them that Radar has the same malocclusion but that it is his lower right canine that is outside of his jowl.  radar looks as though he's getting ready to spit.  We told Mogley that we'd post some of his photos showing his teeth.  Well that was easier said than done.  So here's the best that dad could come up with to show Radar's malocclusion.
A FAVOR IF YOU CAN, PLEASE.
It has been pointed out to us that on days that we don't blog the AHGRR votes in The Shelter Challenge seem to decrease.  We were hoping that some of y'all might do us the favor of copying the below voting pleas into your blog postings, preferably everyday. If you have access to FireFox browser, you can simply copy it and paste it in your blog over existing text. As of 2/24/2010 we are back down to #65 in the Shelter Challenge voting nationally, we had slipped to to #64 yesterday. However, we are still #2 in West Virginia (16.02% of WV votes). The Ritchie County Humane Society is still #1 in WV (28.92% of WV votes) and #22 nationally; so they've now opened the gap up to 43 places higher then us. We really need the support from not just you but also from your friends.
Here's the link to get to the Animal rescue Site Free food Donation page; you get to The Shelter Challenge Vote from there:

MURPHY at Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary needs your help!
We are participating in The Animal Rescue Site's Shelter Challenge event in hopes of winning a cash grant that will help with feeding and veterinary bills at our shelter.  It's a very simple 3 step process and it's FREE.  Step 1: To get started, all you need to do is click on the "Vote Every Day" button below.  That takes you to The Animal Rescue Sites "  Step 2: Click to Give Free Food and Care" page.  Click on the block to donate free food.  Then a "Thank You" screen appears.  Step 3:  At the top of the Thank You page is a "Vote Today" button.  Simply "click" on that to open the Shelter Challenge voting page.  Select "WV" in the State box and enter "capon" in the City box then click on "Search"  The  Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary data will appear at the bottom of the vote box, then simply click on "Vote" to cast your vote.  A new screen then opens that shows you a picture of an animal.  Simply type in the lower case single word name of the animal to confirm your vote; this is to try to prevent mechanized voting.   Thanks for helping to save a live.

 ATTENTION GOLDEN RETRIEVER LOVERS
Can someone please make room in their heart and home for Murphy?  Murphy is less than a year old.  he is a very good boy and he loves other pets, both dogs and cats.  He is already housebroken so that shouldn't be an impediment.  Murphy would like nothing better than to have his own family again in his new furever home sometime soon. If you would like to make Murphy a part of your family, please submit and application which can be downloaded from the AHGRR website  (www.almostheaven-golden-retriever-rescue.org). You can email or mail it to them at: ahgrr@frontiernet.net.  Wrangler is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed /neutered. Wrangler is a prime candidate for long term foster home/care. If you are interested, please contact AHGRR. This boy is a sweetheart. He's a handsome handsome boy and he's waiting now to go home with some lucky person as an adoption or as a long term foster. You can check him out, and other adoptable dogs looking for 4ever homes, at the Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary Petfinder website:  Just click here.

We are proud that we were your part of your 499th post. Lady and her staff read the blog every day, so they will be happy to see the photos of Radar, and we are happy that Radar has a wonderful home. Now excuse us while we go vote for your rescue!

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
