EMERGENCY HELP NEEDED NOW

DO YOU LIVE NEAR THE AREA BETWEEN
ARDMORE, OK,  AND WICHITA, KS?

BUDDY NEEDS HELP

Hey Hounders,
We need someone in the vicinity of Denton, TX, that's by Dalles/Fort Worth, to pull this dog, named Buddy, out of the kill shelter he's in so that he can be transported from Denton to Albert Lea, MN.  We desperately need volunteers to move the poor guy from Texas to Minnesota.  This is the email we got from Bob Johnson.

Hello Homer and Bumpass Hound (and Kittes),
I belong to Golden friends Rescue ( http://golden friends.org ), we are trying to save a mix golden who is at a KILL shelter in Denton, Texas, (City of Denton Animal Shelter) from being euthanized on Thursday.  I know how much you do to try to save Goldens.  I'm writing to ask if you can post this information on any boards you are on.  We have a foster family in minnesota that will take him but we have to get him there.  his details are listed in his petfinder link and the proposed legs of the transport are listed below.  Buddy is OK with cats and has a little arthritis; he is approximately 8 years old.

Transport help needed on the following legs;

1.  Denton, Texas  ---  Ardmore, OK (71 miles) FILLED
2.  Ardmore, OK  --- Norman, OK (83 miles) Needed

3.  Norman, OK  ---  Guthrie, OK (50 miles) Needed

4.  Guthrie, OK  ---  Tonkowa, OK (60 miles) Needed

5.  Tonkowa, OK  ---  Wichita, KS (74 miles) Needed

UPDATE: Once Buddy makes it to Wichita KS he can join an established transport that is going to Albert Lea MN already.  He can spend the nightwith John and Dianna in Wichita until they can take hime to his transport heading north.

I believe that this transport will need to spend the night somwhere enroute.  hopefully we can find a home willing to have buddy for the night.

The points of contact to get in touch with if you can help out in this effort are:
Pam Patton,  Ph (717) 371-0045, email: pamelapatton@comcast.net
or
Terry Batt, email:

UPDATE:  Terry made contact with Jeff Weil at Lucky Dog Daycare Ranch in Denton, who is willing to board Buddy for Golden Friends Rescue and he is also willing to make the trip to the City of Denton shelter to do an evaluation on Buddy.  Jeff also knows the head of the shelter and is willing to help Golden friends Rescue with anything that he can do locally.  Jeff will also pick up Buddy and bring him back to the kennel if and when Buddy needs to be boarded temporarily.  Golden friends rescue will take care of any fees involved.
Thank you very much Mr. Weil; thank you very, very much.

I don't have any contacts with the organization, but you might try getting in touch with Golden Retriever Rescue of North Texas: http://goldenretrievers.org/

I don't think they take in mixes, but I know they are a very compassionate group of people, and someone might offer to take that first leg.

Sorry I'm not more help! If I were closer...!

Lukes Mom,
Thanks for the suggestion but we have tried all the Golden Rescues not only in Texas but surrounding states, either they are all filled up or they don't take mixes.
But were still trying.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
