MONDAY MORNING INTRODUCTION

Hey Hounders,
It's the newest Bumpass Hound, actually a Bumpass Hound Kitty, Gracie.  I'm about 4 months old and was in a shelter wiating to be adopted.  The Blue Ridge Community College LVT School, where mom is studying to become a licensed Veterinary Technician, does spay and neutering and basic inoculations for shelter animals in their area.  The week before last I was brought to BRCC LVT School to get all of that done to me.  I was the teaching subject in in anesthesiology that Tuesday where I met my new mom.  She didn't know she was my new mom then, I was being weighed so that the LVT students could determine the amount of stuff I'd need to sleep through my surgery on Wednesday.  I was a bit frightened and all of the students said I was a little skidish, all except the nice lady that held me and stroked my head; she made me purr.  The next day was the surgery lab and the nice lady had to "put me under" as she said.  I'm pretty small and my vein are small too; fortunately they are well defined so the nice lady was able to insert the catheter without any trouble.  I was spayed and got all of my shots while I was at BRCC.  The day after my surgery, the nice lady decided that I needed a new home so that there'd be no chance of my returning to the shelter to be euthanized at some later time if I wasn't adopted quickly.  She sent the boss doctor asking if she could adopt me.  That Friday was a no school day for mom but she got an email approving her request to adopt me.  So I met mom on Tuesday, she put me under on Wednesday and Thursday she decided and it was approved on Friday.  I spent the weekend recuperating at BRCC but this last Monday my new mom brought me home to meet her other litties and doggies.  BOY, there sure are a lot of them.  I'm learning the ropes and hope that you'll be hearing mor from me in the days to come.
OBTW: Dad said to apologize to y'all for last week's posts schedule or lack thereof.  He had to go do work and he hurriedly helped us schedule all the posts for the week, but unfortunately he screwed it all up and nothing worked like it was supposed to when it was supposed to so he had to fix them all and make them all go out to the blogosphere.  That's why some of you thought you missed our our posts, which you did, but not through your fault but because of my new dad's fault.  He seems like an OK guy but even though he's an engineer he is operating under a time warp disadvantage.

Detailed instructions are on the right side bar.

A VERY SPECIAL PUP
Three year old Luke is a total sweetheart.  He has never met a person or pet that he didn't love.  Luke is eager to please, and he is crate trained.  Luke is also deaf, so he will need a fenced yard and someone who will understand his only handicap is his inability to hear.  Luke is in a situation a lot like our dog Radar who is blind.Luke needs a home.  If you can't adopt, maybe you can sponsor.

Oh boy, do we understand the problems with pawrents who used to be techies! Muzzer has been fussing ever since last night about rebuilding the watch lists and that kind of thing, thinking (usually correctly) that is was some kind of glitch she made happen to the puter. Tell your dad she is glad not to be alone in the time warp, and tell your mama that we think the new kittie is cute.

For a kittie.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
