THINGS R BOUND 2 GET BETTER
Patti Whackit here. Well, it's Memorial Day weekend here in the U.S.; similar to Remembrance Day in other countries we hear tell. The start of the summer vacation season in the northern hemisphere (sorry Huffle). We've all weathered what was a depressing week. Maquire and Max Dog have left us and gone to The Rainbow Bridge. Their loss has weighed heavily on our hearts and minds. They will be missed and fondly remembered. There are also other dogs that need our attention and help now. We can all be proud of our response in exceeding our $400.00 goal in the fund raising effort to buy a much needed air conditioner unit for a kennel house at the Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary. No donation was too small; every penny counted. In these economically distressed times, it is often the helpless and homeless, people and animals, that feel the pain the most as contributions for their support and welfare are often the first things deleted from contributors budgets. Without the efforts of AHGRRS, and other organizations like it, many dogs would succumb to the alternative disposition of euthanasia. It can be a difficult balancing to provide something for everyone. So now we have a way for y'all to help AHGRRS without having to open your checkbook or dip into your wallet and/or pocketbook. The Animal Rescue Site is sponsoring The All-Star Shelter Challenge and is giving away 77 grants totaling $100,000.00. If you go to their website, www.theanimalrescuesite.com you can simply "click" to donate free food and after doing that, you can vote in the shelter challenge. The Animal Rescue Site will even send you a daily email reminder if you elect to sign up for that option. If you're strapped for time, you can go directly to the voting page as explained at the bottom of this post. The competition is tight and we have lost in previous contest when we had a healthy head start but faded at the close. Right now we are in first place in West Virginia with 22.01% of the state vote; the #2 shelter has 12.61% of the vote. That's a fairly good margin, but the gap has been closing all week. We can't afford to be over confident. We need everyone to vote everyday, from now through August 22nd, PLEASE. We're gonna post some pictures of the dogs that are currently at AHGRRS that you'll be helping. You can find out more about each of them at the AHGRRS Adoptable Dogs page or on the AHGRRS Pet Finder page.

Please give the page enough time to fully load to "Done" before proceeding. Then, from the "State" drop down menu, we want you to select:
Then in the "City" block, enter
Then click on "Search." The page will then do its' thing and will end up showing the location of AHGRRS: Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary, Inc. Capon Bridge, WV 26714. And, more importantly, a "VOTE" button will appear. Click on the "VOTE" button. You will then have to identify a particular animal in a photo to confirm your vote; this eliminates machine voting. You then will be thanked for your vote to indicate that your vote has registered. You can cast one vote every day for your favorite rescue organization. Voting ends at midnight (PDT) on August 22nd, 2010. The more friends you can rally to vote for your favorite rescue organization, the better its chances of winning. You can vote once a day from as many different computer as you can. Every vote, every day counts - shelters can pull ahead even during the last few days with enough support. Please, get people involved through your social networks like Facebook and My Space, etc. The homeless dogs and puppies at Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary is counting on us!
