TEAM USA HEADED HOME FROM SA
Jack here with today's news. By now y'all probably know that the U.S. Soccer (Futbol) team lost to Ghana. So they didn't do too bad in spite of the FIFA mafia officials. They sure have some weird "rules" or lack thereof. We've seen better officiating at high school football games. We're glad that South Africa was the venue for the matches and that they got to show their stuff. No offense to Max Mom, we know she's guilty of blowing one at the games, but those horns can get a bit annoying. Thank goodness ESPN figured out a way to eliminate them (just about) from the audio feed on the TV broadcasts of the matches here. Every four years we seem to get a renewal of soccer enthusiasm here in the U.S. but then it fades behind American Football (NFL) and Baseball (MLB) and Basketball (NBA); maybe even Hockey (NHL). There sure is a lot of advertising associated with the World Cup.
All of the Coca Cola cans in our fridge are decked out for the games. We are sorry that our blogging buddy, Max Dog, didn't get to see the games with the spotlight on his home country of South Africa, he was so looking forward to them. We know that Max dog is a fan and that he probably took a midfield seat in the heavenly boxes. He'd be so proud of South Africa, as well he should be.
Well, the $$ Ka-Ching sailed away to the shipyard for overhaul this morning. Actually, dad and Sophie dragged it down to Anna's Marine Center to have the motor fixed. This morning dad noticed that the boat wasn't properly seated in the trailer bunks because of the rush retrieval/removal from the lake yesterday during the squall passage. It would be GReat if we get it back before the lake's 4th of July (American Independence Day) fireworks display this Saturday.
GOLDEN RETRIEVER MEETUP
We were reading Golden Samantha's blog post today about the 1st Meeting of the San Francisco Area Golden Retriever Meetup group. Dad thought that was a GReat idea so he went surfing to see if there was anything like that around here. Turns out that these Meetup groups are all over the country for various activities. Dad looked for Golden Retriever Meetups and, low and behold, there is one just down the interstate, The Richmond Area Golden Retriever Meetup in Richmond, VA. So dad joined us up and found out that they are sponsoring a swimming Meetup on July 10th at a The Dude Ranch Pet Resort which is not too far from where we live. Dad RSVP'ed that he'd be bring at least 2 of us to the event. As usual, that means "Canine Good Citizen" Jubal and one other of the Goldens. Maybe if mom goes along they can bring 4 dogs. We can hope for the best and we will all be on our best behavior to win a spot on the traveling squad.

ALERT - ALERT
AHGRRS is still #1 in WV with 22.46% of the state vote; but that's down from 22.70 % yesterday. The new #2 shelter, P.U.R.R. West Virginia, Inc., has rapidly moved up to surpass The Ritchie County Animal Shelter for #2 position with 12.81% of the state's votes, yesterday they only had 11.03%. The new #2 shelter has been gaining on every one else daily. The is reminiscent of the last challenge when we were ahead and then lost in the stretch run; probably because we were sure that we had it won. PLEASE DO NOT GET COMPLACENT. We need you all to vote everyday from as many computers as you can access.. Try to get your friends to vote. The gap between us and P.U.R.R. is only 9.65% that's considerably closer than the 11.67% gap that we had yesterday; that's closed by 2.02 % from yesterday. No more double digit lead. Please don't get complacent. P.U.R.R. is rocketing up rapidly. We are worried.
Only a very few days left.
Voting for the Top U Dog for July ends at the end of June.
