PLEASE VOTE FOR SUGAR
To VIEW the Promo Video and VOTE,
Lots of Golden Thanks for Voting.
Lots of Golden Woofs,
Let's help sugar become a rich and famous TV star so that she can share all her fame and fortune with the rest of us "common" dogs. Maybe she'll give us all free pawtographs if she wins. Voting is easy so maybe you can get some of you friends and family members to also vote for Sugar. And besides all that, Homer J. thinks that Sugar is the sweetess girl he knows in the dog blogosphere.
"Homer's sweet on Sugar, Homer's sweet on Sugar."
"Homer's sweet on Sugar, Homer's sweet on Sugar."

NEWS FROM AHGRRS
It' me, Abby (Dabby-Do) with some news from Ms. Carol at Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) that we want to share with you. Our late brother Gordon was the first dog that joined TBH&K from AHGRRS. Gordie was blind, like Radar, and about 10 years old when he moved in with TBH&K. He came to TBH&K while mom and dad lived in old their house up in Fredericksburg.and made the move down here to the new house in Bumpass. Gordie was 15 years old when he went to The Rainbow Bridge back in January of '08. Me (Abby), Sophie, Radar, and Patti are also AHGRRS dogs that have decided we like living with TBH&K. Ms. Carol and her husband, Mr. Skip, have saved lots of homeless dogs, mostly senior or otherwise difficult to place (blind, sick, etc) Golden Retrievers. Anyway, we'd like you all to know the latest news from AHGRRS, so here's Ms. Carol's latest news letter.
Just a few things to share with you - - - - - - -
Ebay and Mission Fish (Ebay's division that handles Non-Profits) offer each purchaser/buyer the opportunity to donate to one of their participating nonprofits at checkout (via paypal) - or to donate a portion of the sales proceeds (if selling). The amount starts at a very nominal $1 though you can donate any amount you choose above that.
Last year, we were chosen as one of the nonprofits "featured" by Mission Fish - which means our name automatically was displayed and buyers asked if they would like to donate $1 to us. It doesn't sound like much - but the total collected on our behalf was over $10,000 - and that fed, vetted, heated, and air conditioned a lot of dogs.
This year, they are choosing the nonprofits to be featured by "people's choice" - meaning that only the top requested (at checkout or when listing) nonprofits will be chosen as featured groups. I don't know how many of you are Ebay listers or buyers, but if you could designate Almost Heaven to receive even a very nominal amount every time you use Ebay, we could once again be chosen - and it could mean a huge amount of money for us. Essentially, when you are asked to proceed to checkout, you will see an area asking if you would like to donate a dollar to a nonprofit. You can choose to donate to Almost Heaven - - - - - - - - and we will receive not only the dollar, but it increases our chances of being "featured".
If you are confused or have questions - please email me for a better explanation. This is a virtually painless way to help us be elgible for what could be a very significant amount of money.
The shelter challenge is off to a great start - thank you - we can really use those extra funds. Here is the link - spread the word far and wide - - - -
You can vote once per day per computer - - - - - - please help us if you can.
Lastly, Skip (and I) will need to be out of town for a few days in the upcoming weeks for a trip to UVA for surgery. We're not even sure of a date, yet. Skip is ill and will need to take it easy for a while when we return. Soooooo - I'm looking for a couple of kind folks who would be willing to stay here while we're gone and take care of the dogs for us. (Ann-Marie - are you game?) I'd like to have a minimum of 2 people here - it makes the workload much easier. We have a swimming lake, fishing lake, and tennis courts here in the community - so it would not have to be all work.
If anyone is interested in doing any volunteer work here - we'd love to have your help. There is always something to be done - - - - - not all of it is fun - lol - but the dogs make it all worthwhile. Play yards need to be disinfected, buckets and bowls need to be cleaned, dogs groomed and walked, kennels cleaned (and they could use paint), weed whacking - - - - - well - you get the idea.
Due to Skip's illness and subsequent recuperation time, we may need to board even more dogs in order to make them safe prior to transport here - or to a foster home. Our budget is stretched to limit most times - so if you can provide any volunteer, foster home, or financial help, it would mean a lot right now.
Our plans for the future include completely enclosing this property for the dogs to use. It will be sectioned off for age, personality, etc - but it will be a huge benefit to let the dogs roam even more land - - - - - - and to be able to keep intruders (deer, stray pets) out. Bill - could you do a "Chip-In" for us? The last one did so well - though this is a much larger project.
Thank you everyone. If you can lend a hand here - we could use your help. If you can't lend a hand (and we know we're in a remote location for most of you), and you have a few spare dollars, we could use that help, too.
