Hey Hounders,
If you want to see some cute puppy pictures that'll surely make you smile, then pop over to Mona and her Mom's blog at:
Some of youses guys might remember the pair of senior Goldens that were up for adoption as a pair from Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary. Their names are Bubba and Toby and they've lived together most all of their lives before they were given up for adoption. Here is our post about Bubba and Toby from back on December 21, 2009:

TOBY &
BUBBA
Bubba and Toby have lived together their entire lives and are very bonded. We have decided that they need to be adopted as a pair. Please consider giving these two wonderful old boys a second chance. 9 - 10 year old Toby's owner had some bad luck and could no longer care for him and his brother, Bubba - so they are looking for a new forever home to live out their "retirement" years. Toby is very spry for an older dog, and loves to go outside and play and go for walks. He is housebroken and gets along with other pets. This wonderful old boy would be a terrific addition to any home and family. Bubba does have some arthritis, but seems to be handling the meds for it very well. Once he gets going, he is a ball fetching machine and LOVES to go for walks. He is housebroken and gets along with other pets. This grand old gent just needs a soft bed, a tennis ball, and love! Both Bubba and Toby are up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
TOBY TOO

3 1/2 year old Toby is such a good boy. Toby is housebroken, does well on leash, and is a very nice looking boy. Toby is a special dog looking for a special home. We would prefer that he be an "only furkid" and that he have a conventional fenced yard. Toby, Too is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
On January 16th of this year we posted this on our blog:
We are still looking for that special home for Toby and Bubba. They've been together their entire lives and are bonded. They are VERY well behaved boys who get along with everything and everyone. We will consider long term foster care for them - - - - - - - we just would like to see them live out their years in the comforts of someone's home.

Ms. Carol at AHGRRS has tried for a very long time to get them adopted together but getting senior Goldens adopted is tough enough, getting two adopted together is almost impossible. It would be a miracle to pull that off. Only a saint would be willing to take in two senior Goldens together. Well, Miracle do happen and in this case God worked a Miracle. Bubba and Toby have a new home and they have moved out of AHGRRS. Now add in the fact that bunches of other Goldens already live in the house that Bubba and Toby have moved to and it makes the Miracle only even more miracly (Is that a word Homer?). And the lady that adopted Bubba and Toby is really a Saint. It's known other than Ms. Kim at Golden Pines. Ms. Kim has recently lost Cowboy and Maquire. Now we all know that Bubba and Toby are NOT replacements for Cowboy and Maquire because they, like all of us beloved pets, were irreplaceable. But Ms. Kim did have the space and recent experience to provide the home and love that Bubba and Toby have been missing for such a long time. We recommend that you stop over at Ms. Kim's blog post about Bubba and Toby moving down from AHGRRS to Golden Pines. We feel a kinship with Ms. Kim and Bubba and Toby since Homer J., Sophie, Abby, Radar and Patti all came to be Bumpass Hounds via AHGRRS. Just go over to this site to read all about it:

Ms. Kim exemplifies the spirit of "rescue." She finds the way to do what others don't do. She shares her (and her husband's) life and home with the difficult to place persona of otherwise homeless senior Golden retrievers. We've never met Ms. Kim personally, but we know her very well and we love her for being her. We thank DOG that there are people in the world like Ms. Kim and Mr. Carl. They are "Hallmark" people. They're "Hallmark" people because they care enough and do the very best. Cowboy and Maquire are looking down on them right now while spinning and jumping and most of all, smiling. There is happiness at The Bridge.
Thank you Ms. Kim and Mr. Carl. Thank you from all of us.

We read about this on Kim's blog the other day. We are so happy that these two senior gentlemen are able to live out their life with dignity and love.
We also have never met Kim, but like you and all the rest that foster and help Goldens find forever homes, she is tops in our book.
That was one crazy video, did we ever enjoy that.
What was the bang at the end????
Patti, rake it easy......

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
