ALL-STAR SHELTER CHALLENGE
PLEASE VOTE
HEMMI WHEN HE WAS A KITTEN
(Sissy's Kitty)
Check the top of the right side bar. --->:

22 July 2010: AHGRRS is #1 in WV with 22.66% of the state vote; DOWN 0.05% from 22.71% Wednesday. We've slipped down a two more notches to #56 from #54 nationally. The #2 shelter (P.U.R.R. West Virginia Inc.) has 13.41%; DOWN 0.18% from the Wednesday.  They had been gaining on every one else daily; they are holding at #124 nationally, same as Wednesday. There's still only a single digit 9.2513% gap between WV #1 and #2, but it's opened up  further from Wednesday's 9.18% gap.  Thank You for voting to keep us in the running for the $1,000.00 state award.

Please don't get complacent.  We're holding our own right now, but we'd been slipping badly and things can change drastically in a wink of Gracie's eye if we all don't all
KEEP VOTING EVERYDAY.
Time to call in reinforcements (friends).
Perhaps you can copy the info from the top right side bar and post it on your blog to help us out in our effort.
PLEASE

Sophie with her own Happy Hearts Cookie
Hey Hounders,
Sophie here with today's post. Dad said that we all had to contribute to our room and board and that to do that we'd each need to get a job.  Homer J. took up being a Zen-Master, Jenny started doing Household Hints, and Boru took a gig as a Stand-Up comedian (he usually does it lying down).  We're all doing something.  I decided to become a Toy Tester.  My job is to certify Canine Toys as having passed the Severe Sophie Stress Test.  So far none have been able to survive the rigorous tests that I put them through.  Here's and example of one such failure.

Time to go to work.  Punch me in on the time clock, please.

Gosh, I'm tuckered already.   I'm a slave to my job.  Tough work.

How am I doing dad? Nah, it's not giving me too much trouble.

I'm done dad. Here's the test results:

 FAILED!
Gee, this job is fun.
Okay, bring on the next test article, please.

Hey Sophie;
You are one busy Golden, testing those toys must be a tough job. If you find any that withstand your test, let us know, we are always looking for extremely tough toys.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
