WE'LL BE BACK SOON

Patti Whackit and Jubal here.  We're not really back up yet.  Dad's new Dell Inspiron PC should arrive later this week but it'll take a few days to get it up & running.  The PC has shipped as has the monitor.  We're hoping to maybe get something up for the weekend.  It'll take us forever to catch up.  Here's a newsletter that we recently got from Ms. Carol up at AHGRR

Hi Everyone:
Things have been very busy here - as usual.  Skip is now taking chemo weekly and radiation daily - - - - - - - so added to the puppers - it keeps us moving.  The good news is that the doctors seem optimistic - - - - - -
We desperately (and I cannot emphasize that enough) need sponsors for the incoming dogs.  We are all feeling the economical pinch - - - - but the last few weeks here have found us depleting our reserves at record pace - -
If you can help - even a little - we would appreciate it.
Rosie - at 8 - 10 years old she was dumped alongside the road and left to fend for herself.  A very kind hearted person took her to a friend, who really isn't a "dog person".  When Rosie started to shed this past spring, she was banished to the yard.  When she dug holes to find comfort the the record breaking heat - they threatened to take her to the pound.  We intervened - and we have found Rosie to be the typical, happy golden girl - - - - - - one who just wants a warm bed this winter and someone to pet her head.  Vet bills to date, including some boarding:  $375.

Rosie

Foster - Someone loved one year old Foster.  He is well behaved, housetrained, and knows some obedience commands.  Who knows why he was abandoned at a high kill shelter - just shortly before that shelter closed to it's annual cleaning?  Foster is a total love - - - - I'm glad we could intervene.  Vet bills to date:  $273.
 Foster

Scarlett - 5 - 6 year old Scarlett's owners allowed her to run free throughout the neighborhood and across major roadways.  And, when animal control was called to pick her up - they didn't even bother to look for her.  Everyone who has met Scarlett has fallen head over heels in love with her.  We're glad we were there to help.  Vet bills to date (including emergency boarding $393.
 Scarlett

Lucky - 6 1/2 year old Lucky's owners moved away and left him in the house - to die.  This is a wonderful dog is a small version of a full sized golden and - - - - he's housebroken, fully vaccinated, neutered, loves everything in this world.  He's been shaved now - there were just too many mats in his fur to ever comb out.  Vet bills to date:  $250
 Lucky

Reno - OK, he's not gold - - - - but he's half golden - and half black lab.  He's only 11 months old and loves everything and everyone.  His owners were facing eviction and couldn't keep him any more.  Reno came from the same shelter that was closing, so unless someone stepped up for him - and fast - he was not going to be alive very long.  Vet bills to date:  $407.
  Reno

Any and all help is appreciated - - - - we have a waiting list of dogs to come into rescue - please help us to continue to help them.
Don't forget our Basket Bingo later this month.  It will be held in Laurel, Maryland - - - - - the details are posted on our website.  This is the first time we have attempted this time of fundraiser, and Elizabeth has put in a lot of time and work - let's make it a winner for all of us.
Until next time - - - - - - - - - -

We were worried about you. We were afraid something bad had happened.

When a computer goes down around here the chauffeur always blames us, he says we give the keyboard fleas. He does not believe in viruses, he believes fleas cause all the trouble. We don't have fleas, but try explaining that to him when a computer goes down.

Such lovely dogs that need help. You are wonderful, generous people. So many stories just like Lady's. I'm just amazed and at the same time sad.

See you around the blog.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
