HOLIDAY HELP & RESCUED FIGHTING DOGS

A PLEA FROM MS. CAROL
Hi Everyone:
Every year - around the holidays - intakes skyrocket (what better time to dump your dog, huh?) - and adoptions drop to nil. This year is worse than usual. I've held off asking for help as long as I can, but things are really getting desperate here now and I am sensing a crisis may be very near.
Because we have few dogs going out (adoptors want to wait to adopt until after the holidays) - boarding or foster homes is our only chance to save these precious dogs. We have three in boarding now (2 will leave this weekend to come here) - - and - - - we have 3 - 5 requests for dogs to come in - and we have no room here.

I picked up a lovely 10+++ year old female named Lady today - she was dumped on a lonely mountain and left to die. She is a wonderful dog - - - - - no picture yet - but she is gorgeous - and her name fits her.

We have Chief - 1 year old - dumped at the local kill shelter when he kept knocking the family's 3 year old toddler down. (Gee, what a surprise - - - - - - grrrrrrr) He's safe in boarding now - awaiting room and transport
CHIEF

Feller - dumped in his Senior years by someone who shouldn't own a rock - - - I have no patience for people who treat animals like this. He's safe in boarding - will be transported here this weekend -
FELLER

Denzel - Another older dog - at least 8 - disposed of for the Holiday Season by his owners. He will be coming here this weekend.
DENZEL

2 Four year old littermates in N.C. - - - both heartworm positive so the local rescues don't want them - - - - Gladiator and Brandy need us - they will have to be boarded - I am out of space right now

GLADIATOR & BRANDY

We also are working on intake of a 10 month old female tied outside - no shelter, neighbors feeding her. She is getting sick - and no one is helping. I am going to offer to buy her to save her life - if I can. She will need extensive vetting - and boarding No picture yet

Sissy - picture coming - 8 years old - - - bounced from family to family - and now unwanted. She has never been spayed, on heartworm prevention, and is unvaccinated. She lives in a basement. Thank you Charlene and Glen for offering to foster her.

Unnamed 10 year old pregnant female - free to good home ad - - - - - pray we are not too late - - - - - - - - - - - -
And, this is a PARTIAL list. And, yes - I've asked other rescues to help - but they are as busy as we are - - - - so - - - we're on our own - - - - - and we've GOT to make this work.

It's not even Thanksgiving yet, folks - the busiest time is yet to come.

Please, please, please - - - - - if you can make a donation - - - - - - - it would make an enormous difference right now. If you think you might be up for fostering a dog over the holidays - I'd like to hear from you - - - - - - - - -
We have some wonderful stocking stuffer ideas that I will be sending notice out for soon. There is something there for everyone - - - - and the price tags are low - - - - - - - - so watch your email mailboxes next week!
Thank you in advance for ALWAYS coming through for the dogs and us - - -

RESCUE ME

DOG IN NEED AT AHGRR
COOPER

Cooper is only 1 1/2 to 2 years old, but his life has been hard one. Finally, his local Humane Society arranged to have him confiscated from his owner. Cooper had no food, no water, and no shelter ~ and, due to the miserable his owner's miserable treatment, poor Cooper has ended up with a severe case of demodectoc mange and horribly infected ears. If this wasn't bad enough the poor dear is also coming down with kennel cough.

Currently, he is under the care of our veterinarian where he will begin treatment. Safe at last ~ but he has a long road back to being a normal, healthy boy. His veterinary care will exceed $500.

Cooper is in desperate need sponsors for his medical expenses. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure there is a special place reserved for these people in H***... I'm so glad that these beautiful seniors are safe...

...and honestly, how could someone not know that a golden is going to knock a three year old over? You teach both of them! ...but I suppose this is another case of someone not researching the breed they are getting!

Your PayPal button isn't working for me. I'll come back later and see if it's something on this end.

PayPal worked for me. Wish we could give more $$ and lived closer to help foster or transport. So many in need these days. Some I can understand, but there are a few I hear about that makes my blood boil. You know what I mean.

Licks from Lady to all of your rescued critters.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
