TRANSPORT HELP NEEDED SATURDAY 4/10

WE NEED SOME HELP HERE.
Hey Hounders,
Homer J.,  rescued dog extraordinaire, here with a little begging.  Dad's out of town so we can only do a simply post; that opposible thumb thing.
Ever wonder how rescue dogs ever come to be rescued in the first place.  Well, someone has to help them get from where they're not wanted and will probably be euthanized to some place where someone does want them and they can find a furever home.  That's where you can lend a hand.  Contact a local rescue organization in your area and volunteer to lend a hand.  For all you east coast mid-atlantic peeps, here's your chance to excel this coming weekend.

PLEASE CROSS POST ON YOUR BLOG OR EMAIL FRIENDS!
We need help giving these wonderful dogs a second chance.  If you can help, please email Janet at Gone2thedawgz@yahoo.com ..  Please cross post to anyone who might be able to help - if you can fit some of the dogs, that will help!  These animals face euthanasia if we can't transport them.  We will be adding some lucky dogs and pups.  Transport will be updated accordingly.

MONDAY NEWS

Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary

Did you know that for $150, Almost Heaven can neuter, vaccinate and heartworm test a dog? Their Facebook race to 300 has brought in $147 in donations, not as much as they'd hoped, but still a success. The donate button is still on their facebook page if you haven't had a chance to donate yet. Thank you to everyone who donated.  We donated $25.00 to the cause and will be donating some more because of the correct answers about last Monday and Tuesday's mystery guests.  If you haven't yet guessed, go to our last Tuesday blog and leave your answer in a comment; then dad will have to donate even more money.

PATTI OUR FOSTER GIRL
We don't have the photos of Patti that we promised y'all.  The camera station on our blogging PC has crapped out.  Dad has had to plug the camera into another charger station on another PC, but that PC doesn't have the software to download the camera photos.  Dad took some pictures and videos today and he'll find the software and load it on the other PC tomorrow so maybe we'll get some photos yet or else he swap the camera stations around.  Patti is a GReat dog and will make a fine family addition to a home that is looking for a GReat GR/Chow mix.  Patti's tongue looks like it is a dark, dirty pink.  She is very friendly and even gets along fine with Jack.  She loves to be petted and is a lap dog, she's easy to pick up and very light.  She gets along fine with all of us other dogs and even likes the cats.  Her and Boru are very good friends already.  Mom is already getting attached to Patti and says that if we didn't have ten dogs already that Patti would be staying here with us.

THE WISDOM OF BORU:
King Ozymandias of Assyria was running low on cash after years of war with  the Hittites.  His last great possession was the Star of the Euphrates,  the most valuable diamond in the ancient world.  Desperate, he went to  Croesus, the pawnbroker, to ask for a loan.

Croesus  said, "I'll give you 100,000 dinars for it".

"But  I paid a million dinars for it," the King protested.  "Don't you know  who I am?  I am the king!"

Croesus  replied, "When you wish to pawn a Star, makes no difference who you  are."

BORU'S OBSERVATIONS ON LIFE:

When Love Fades...
Last night dad and I were sitting on the sofa watching TV when I heard mom's voice from the kitchen.

"What would you like for dinner my Love? Chicken, beef or lamb?"

Dad replied, "Thank you, I'll have chicken."

Mom replied "You're having soup. I was talking to the cat."

A VERY SPECIAL PUP
Three year old Luke is a total sweetheart.  He has never met a person or pet that he didn't love.  Luke is eager to please, and he is crate trained.  Luke is also deaf, so he will need a fenced yard and someone who will understand his only handicap is his inability to hear.  Luke is in a situation a lot like our dog Radar who is blind.Luke needs a home.  If you can't adopt, maybe you can sponsor.

LATE SATURDAY BLOG

Hey Hounders,
Homer and Boru here with our excuse, errr we mean post, for today. So sorry we are really late today.  Mom and dad went out to dinner last night with sissy and the Beel and Chuck and Michelle and their people puppy, Kyle.  They got home about 11 PM and went to bed.  This morning Sophie and dad took the rescue wagon up to Fredericksburg to meet a Happy Trails rescue convoy carrying Ms. Patti northward.  She's gonna be staying with us in foster care for a week before she moves on up to Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary.  Patti is a GReat dog, a small sized Golden mix.  Dad say's he'll take some photos to put on the Monday blog post.  Anyways, that's on account of why we is late doing the blog post today, just saying.  Hey did y'all know that Lucky Luke's bro, The Bleu, has his own blog?  We didn't know about it 'til this morning and he's been posting for over a year.  We the heck has our heads been? Up some dark, damp, stinky place no doubt. DUH!
PLEASE don't forget to vote for Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary in the Animal Rescue Site's Shelter Challenge today, and everyday until April 18th.  Directions are in the right side bar and at the bottom of this post.  Thank you very much.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
