WEBSITE IT HELP NEEDED

NEWS FLASH FROM AHGRRS
Hey Hounders,
New kid Patti (Whackit) and big Jubes (who is depressed by the news) here.  We have received an urgent message from AHGRRS headquarters.  Ms. Carol needs some knowledgeable website help.  Dad would help but he is a bit ignorant of webmastering techniques.
If any of you can spare the time require each week to at least keep the AHGRRS website functional, it would be greatly appreciated.  If you're really into this stuff you can even work with Ms. Carol to develop and expand the site utilizing your own ideas and techniques.  The website is a major factor in presenting our adoptable homeless dogs to the public in order to find them a new furever home.  Loss of  website capabilities will adversely affect AHGRRS's ability to help out homeless pups.We don't think that age is a factor since young people today are very IT savvy.
Maybe this would be good for a scouting merit badge, Eagle Scout project or other community service requirement.  Even if you can't help with this particular cause, perhaps you know of someone who can.  please let them know that their talents are needed.  Here's a way to help the helpless and definitely "make a difference."  We need YOU.  Here's the website address so you can get an ide of what is required:
_ TBH&K.

Hi Everyone:
Our very dedicated and hardworking webmaster has asked to be  relieved of her job (after a VERY long time) so that she can pursue a life of her own (imagine that - lol) - - - - - sooooooo - - - - - - - we are looking for a new webmaster.
Here is the scoop.  No - we cannot afford to pay someone - sorry - - - - - - - - we just don't have the funding for it.
We need someone who will either work with what already exists - or set up something completely new - their choice - - - - - - BUT - - - - - - it must be maintained at least WEEKLY - and it cannot demand a lot of input from me
- because, quite honestly, I don't have the time to devote to it.  As it stands now, I post the dogs to petfinder, and the webmaster pulls them from there.  I send information on the Bridge Kids, Items for Sale, etc as they happen - - - - - - - - I do not have a lot of time to spend on this project.  Everything else, including the store, was Kat's project - - - - - and she did it very well.
In the meantime, I have asked our webmaster to strip the site of any date sensitive materials in the next few weeks and I will update the dogs available for adoption through Save A Pet.
This will no longer be a pretty site - and will be barely functional - so if you can help - I'd like to hear from you.  I don't know anything about websites - don't ask me.  If I have to learn - I will have to - but I would prefer to leave that to someone else.
Thank you - - - - for everything.  Please don't volunteer unless you really want to do it - - - - - with little or no supervision - - - - - and for an indefinite period of time.  I know that does not sound attractive - but it's the way it is - lol

WAITING FOR DAD FILLER

STAND-UP BORU
A thief broke into the Bumpass police station and stole all the toilets and  urinals, leaving no clues.  A spokesperson was quoted as saying, "We  have absolutely nothing to go on."
-----
I was reading the Bumpass Sentinel fish wrapper yesterday and noticed this ad:
FREE PUPPIES:
Mother: AKC German Shepherd.
Father: Super Dog, able to leap tall fences in a single bound.
------

The other day I saw these two elderly gentlemen from a retirement center sitting on a bench under a tree when one turns to the other and says:"Slim, I'm 83 years old now and I'm just full of aches and pains. I know you're about my age. How do you feel?"
Slim says, "'I feel just like a newborn baby.'"

 "Really!? Like a newborn baby!?"
"Yep. No hair, no teeth, and I think I just wet my pants."

Hey Hounders,
We have raised $215.00 so far for the AHGRRS kennel house air-conditioner.  We still would like to raise another $185.00 to cover the entire $400.00 cost.  Please check out the top of our blog's right sidebar and see if you can help out.  Any contribution, no matter the amount, would be insignificant; there's no such thing as a small donation.  Every donation is a step forward towards our goal.  Thank you very much for your time.

TUESDAY DOINGS - THERE IS A FREE LUNCH

Late News Flash:
Charlie Kelly-Church, the Blue Heeler Cross from Alburquerque, has a new post on her blog.  She hadn't posted since last October so please stop over at her blog and leave a welcome back comment.

WHILE THE CAT'S AWAY
THE DOGS WILL PLAY

Hey Hounders,
Well dad is out of town on "business travel" to VA Beach.  It's about a 3 hour drive so he's isn't too far away.  He'll be back Thursday night so mom is in charge of us all; feeding, letting us out, bedding us down etc.  This is mom's final examination week of the semester at LVT school so she'll be up in her office studying while we get to run rampant through the house.  Hopefully we'll be able to survive 'til dad gets back.  If necessary, we can always call 9-1-1.. Dad actually has to leave instructions for mom so she knows who gets what.  Sophie and Homer get special food for allergies.  Homer needs his ears cleaned every night to prevent infection.  We all need tick inspection / removal when we come in from the paddock and mom doesn't like ticks.  Traffic control is important in order to prevent skirmishes.

Jack and the Newfs are like oil and water; actually more like hydrogen and an ignition source.  It'll be interesting.  Mom's had to do this before and we've all still here so she's got a handle on it.
The worse part of dad's trip is that he'll be away for his "Beatles Birthday" which is tomorrow - Wednesday, May 5th.  We would really like to surprise him for his birthday so we want y'all to send presents.  We'd appreciate it very much if those of you who can afford it would send only one dollar ($1.00) for our dad's birthday gift to the Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary Air Conditioner Drive that we are sponsoring.  You can read about it at the top of the right side bar here on our blog.  We are over (just barely) half way to our goal.  Just click on this logo to "Chip-In" for dad's gift.  It'll make him real happy on what will be an otherwise bleak and lonely "Beatles Birthday."

If you can't afford to send a donation, but you do information searches on the internet, you can donate free every time you do a search. Here's a new easy way to raise money for AHGRRS.

Just start using Yahoo! powered GoodSearch.com as your search engine and they'll donate about a penny to your favorite cause every time you do a search! In addition, do all of your shopping through their online shopping mall, GoodShop.com, where you can shop at more than 900 top online retailers and a percentage of your purchases will go to the charity or school of your choice. You pay the same price as you normally would, but a donation goes to your cause!

Here's the web site — http://www.goodsearch.com
Here's our proof that just simple internet searches and shopping can make a big difference.  You can track the amount of your donations. This is the history of the donations that our mom and dad have mad so far this year and since they started using GoodSearch for internet searches and shopping and this contribution was free:

The more people use GoodSearch, the more money will be directed towards your cause. The sky is the limit so please spread the word!
Please use this site honestly. Fraudulent searches will result in a charity being de-listed.
1 Estimated results. Fifty percent of the revenue generated from advertisers on GoodSearch is shared with the charity, school or nonprofit organization of your choosing. We estimate that each Web search will generate approximately $0.01 (image, video, Yellow Pages, and site-specific searches are not included). In fiscal 2006, 2007 and 2008 (October through September), each search actually earned 1.3 cents. However, with the soft economy and falling advertising rates in 2009, we expect this number to be lower. 2 Updated weekly. The data from GoodSearch is calculated in real time, while the GoodShop shopping data is posted weekly. GoodShop donations may also be delayed in posting as our retailers can take up to eight weeks to report sales back to us. Also, you may notice a change in the totals due to returned merchandise or cancelled orders.

STAND-UP BORU
(Double Feature)
A marine biologist developed a race of genetically engineered dolphins that  could live forever if they were fed a steady diet of seagulls.  One  day, his supply of the birds ran out so he had to go out and trap some  more.  On the way back, he spied two lions asleep on the road.   Afraid to wake them, he gingerly stepped over them.  Immediately, he  was arrested and charged with ...  transporting gulls across sedate lions for immortal porpoises.

GOD LOVES DRUNK PEOPLE TOO
A man and his wife were awoken at 3:00 am by a loud pounding on the door.
The man gets up and goes to the door where a drunken stranger, standing in the pouring rain, is asking for a
push.
"Not a chance," says the husband, "it is 3:00 in the morning!"
He slams the door and returns to bed.
"Who was that?" asked his wife..
"Just some drunk guy asking for a push," he answers.
"Did you help him?" she asks.
"No, I did not, it is 3:00 in the morning and it is pouring rain out there!"
"Well, you have a short memory," says his wife. "Can't you Remember about three months ago when we broke down, and those two guys helped us?  I think you should help him, and you should be ashamed of yourself!"
The man does as he is told, gets dressed, and goes out into the pounding rain.
He calls out into the dark, "Hello, are you still there?"
"Yes," comes back the answer.
"Do you still need a push?" calls out the husband.
"Yes, please!" comes the reply from the dark.
"Where are you?" asks the husband.
"Over here, on the swing," replied the drunk.

We hope that all of our friends in those areas ravaged by the devastating boom-booms, tomatoes and flash flooding are all safe.  We hope that all of our Gulf Coast friends are not too adversely affected by the environmental disaster taking place off of their shores.  It is important to put everything in prospective; material things can be replaced; life can not.

SUNDAY FUNNIES

LAZY GROUP

Hey Hounders,
We were all up late last night in order to watch our guy loose the NASCAR race down at the Richmond International Raceway.  So our tails are kinda draggin' this AM.  Dad has to run an errand this morning and won't be back 'til after noon today. That's Alex and Gracie chillin' up on top of Radar's night time crate.  One of the dogs is in the background lounging on the bed; probably Jubal.
There's Gracie (NAFOD) on the living room coffee table; nice devil eyes Gracie.  You can see how much Gracie has grown in the photo of her and Jubal below.  Heck, Jubal doesn't even come up to the top of Gracie's legs now.

SATURDAY WEEKEND CHORES

Hey Hounders,
Radar, the blind Golden Retriever here.  So far we have raised $205.00 of the $400.00 required to buy the much needed 12,000 BTU air conditioning unit for the AHGRRS kennel house.  You can find out about the need and how to help in the upper section of our right side bar.

Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary

Proceeds from the sale of these items support the Almost Heaven. You can purchase them through the website or by emailing Ms. Carol directly:

Today is chore day; mom wants the lawn mowed.  The John Deere riding mower is in the shop and won't be available to next week.  So dad was directed to use the self-propelled walk behind mower.  Well it's pretty old and it wouldn't start.  Dad changed the spark plug and cleaned the air filter.  He could get it to kick in by using starting fluid directly in the cylinder but it wouldn't sustain itself; kt kept conking out immediately.  After about and hour of messing with it the starter rope broke.  The mower has a high tension starter spring and it's really complicated to get in to change the starter rope.  So after discussions the old mower went to the recycling center and mom, dad and Sophie went to Lowe's and bought a new self-propelled Troy Bilt mower.  Dad "hand" mowed the front yard but will wait for the JD to come back from the shop to do out back.  Then we all watched the NASCAR race which is in Richmond tonight.  Me and dad have a special driver that we wanted to win and he led the race for a lot of laps but with just 5 laps to go he got beaten on a restart after a caution flag and our guy ended up finishing second. DRATS and DOUBLE DRATSI'll let y'all figure out who we wanted to win.

We'll catch y'all tomorrow.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
