A LETTER FROM MS. CAROL

Hey Hounders,

We'd like to give big "thank you" licks and snuggles to all of you that have chipped in to help AHGRR with the big problem that they are facing.  If you are not aware of the situation just click here to find out.

Mom and dad received a letter that Ms. Carol sent to all the AHGRRS volunteers.  It isn't very good news but it shows how much y'all have helped Ms. Carol cope with the stress of the current situation, especially with Mr. Skip being so sick and all.  Here's what she wrote:

Hi:

AHGRRS RESCUE WAGON + "KING" A SAVED SOUL

Just a short note as I am really over-
whelmed right now with circum-
stances.  As most of you know, Skip was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and underwent a horrific 7+++ hour surgery in 2010.  Until 2 months ago, we thought the cancer was under control.  In fact, just a month ago, his PET scan was clean.

HOMER - AHGRRS

About a month ago, Skip lost his appetite - then ceased eating altogether.  A CT scan showed a blockage between his stomach and colon - a blockage we thought we scar tissue.

So - about 10 days or so ago, we sent Skip back to UVA (University of Virginia) where the original life saving surgery was performed.  But the outcome was not a good one - - - - to our surprise - - - - the cancer has advanced to stage 4, and now includes most of Skip's abdominal cavity.  Standard medicine doesn't offer us much hope, so we are actively pursuing other avenues.

In the meantime, our fundraiser was cancelled, but the outpouring of donations, love, notes, and understanding has been phenomenal.  I cannot tell you how comforting it is to know that all we have worked for all these years in rescue will continue.

BUMPASS HOUNDS CREW

We have hired an absolutely wonderful gentleman to help me here at the Sanctuary, and one additional person to help with clean up.  I am living day to day - - - - and though today, I feel totally overwhelmed, I know I will get through this - as will Skip - with the help and love from our friends and supporters.

Please know how much each and every donation has meant, and how much each and every note, card, and email has meant as well.

Please keep Skip in your prayers, he is an amazing man, and so dedicated to the dogs.

RADAR (Blind AHGRRS RESCUE Dog)

We know that we've been bugging you all really bad this week, but we think that if we can cap off the vet bill payment that Ms. Carol my get just a little relief from that stress; she certainly has enough stress from Mr. Skip being so very sick.  We convinced our dad to "Chip-In" again so that AHGRRS can close out the vet bills.  Won't you please consider just another small donation?  Please.  Let's keep Mr. Skip in our prayers.  Also, if you can send a get well card it might help encourage Ms. Carol and Mr. Skip.  Just mail it to:
