Sophie here to say that we're very sad to have to tell y'all that Mr. Skip up at Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary has crossed The Rainbow Bridge. We received the following two e-mails from Ms. Carol:

Skip lost his battle with pancreatic cancer at 2:40 am this morning.
I've lost my heart and heaven has gained an angel.

Hi: For those of you who don't know, Skip, my very beloved husband, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer very early this morning. We will be holding a small service for him on Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm at Giffin's Funeral Home in Capon Bridge, WV. Everyone is invited - - - - - it will be very informal.
For those of you who can't come on Wednesday, there will be Celebration of His Life Party later this year - - - - - -
Thanks to everyone for their support and kindnesses. Skip was the world to me - - - and he did so much good in his life.

| Mr. Skip was a GReat person. He helped to save countless lives through his kindness and consideration. He was always willing to do whatever was necessary to help a homeless animal. Mom and dad adopted five of us Bumpass Hounds from Mr. Skip and Ms. Carol. One, Gordon, has been at The Rainbow Bridge for a few years now and we know that he was there to greet Mr. Skip. Sophie, Abby, Patti, and Homer are still with us thanks to Mr. Skip. It would be Great if y'all could send a condolence note to: |

Ralph E. (Skip) Free May 22, 1951 - January 15, 2012 Skip was co-founder of Almost Heaven and dedicated a large portion of his life to helping and rescuing animals. Skip was a gentle, compassionate, dedicated man who gave up many personal comforts (including vacations) to help those dogs (animals) who needed him most. Skip leaves behind AHGRR's cofounder and wife, Carol Free. Almost Heaven will continue to save those animals who need us. It was Skip's request, and last wish that the rescue continue it's work in his memory - and in his honor. It is a legacy that will be fulfilled. Donations in Skip's memory will be used for the comfort and care of the orphan dogs in the care of Almost Heaven. Thank you, everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers. This is a very difficult time - but Skip's spirit will see us all through ~ Carol

We are so very sorry to hear about Mr. Skip. We just heard from Gussie and Teka that Homer had crossed.
My Maggie just arrived at The Bridge on Saturday and I bet she was right there to welcome Homer and Mr Skip.
