Hey Hounders,
It's us Bumpass Gals (that'd be Shiloh, Sophie, Shelby Belle, Abby, Patti, Jenny, Gracie and Lily) with one of our rare posts. First off, we'd like to thank all of you who are taking the time each day to vote in the Shelter Challenge. Hopefully you're voting for Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue
SHELBY BELLE
and Sanctuary in Capon Bridge, WV. The procedures are addressed in our previous posts and all ya have to do is click on the Shelter Challenge logo at the top of our right sidebar on this blog page. We're currently leading the contest in WV and stand to earn a $1,000.00 grant thank to y'alls (spell check says to use "yawls' but that means boats and not "all of you all") efforts. WELL DONE HOUNDERS.

GRACIE
Next off we're gonna try to press our luck with y'all. Cancer is a really bad word; at least what cancer means is bad. Cancer, especially breast cancer, is one of the biggest life threatening diseases that females are affected by. We've done a rough comparison between ourselves and mom and we figure that we're probably 4 times more susceptible to breast cancer than people ladies (by Bumpass math we've got 4 X as many breasts per body than people ladies - 8 vs. 2); so since research for peoples often benefits us animals, we're all for helping defeat breast cancer. Dad says that he's a big supporter of Save The Ta-Tas., but he also works with a lady, Tess White, that doesn't just talk-the-talk of fighting breast cancer, she also walks-the-walk. As a matter of fact, this lady is currently raising money to fight breast cancer by participating in the Avon Walk For Life on May 5th and 6th of this year. So we'd like all y'all to give her a hand (well, we'd actually prefer that you give her money) if ya possibly can afford to do so. Since May 5th is also known as Cinco de Mayo (if you press 2) maybe you can plan to have
LILY
just one less margarita and donate that money you saved to Tess and her fight against breast cancer. We'd really be grateful to you for any help you can provide. Here's a bit of the letter that Ms. Tess sent out to her supporters:

"As most of you know last year I participated in the 2011 Avon Walk For Breast Cancer. This was one of the most amazing experiences of my life that I immediately signed up for the 2012 Breast Cancer Walk happening on May 5th and 6th this year. I'm required to raise at least $1,800 to participate in this event but my goal is to double that number, any contribution that you can make to help me achieve my goal would be great. Attached is my letter which will give you all the details on how to contribute.
The money raised goes to the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade, a 501(c)(3) public charity (ed. read "tax deductable") whose mission is to provide access to care and to work toward finding a cure. They provide funding to organizations all over the country in five areas: medical research, clinical care, support services, educational and advocacy seminars, and community-based, non-profit early detection breast health programs.
Please remember as you're making your donation that in less than the time it took to read this e-mail, another woman was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Thank you very much for your time. Have a great day!
Very Respectfully,

Tess White"

So here's what we'd like ya to do.We know that we can sometimes be pests (or so our dad tells us), or even worse.  But this is a really important thing that Ms. Tess is trying to do to help out women worldwide.  So we don't mind being a PITA if it'll encourage you to support her in this effort.  We'll be a thankin' y'all kindly.

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

PLEASE HELP SPONSOR A SENIOR OR SPECIAL NEEDS GOLDEN

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
