MAX - CHAPTER SIX

CHRISTMAS MAX

THE GREAT 2007 CHRISTMAS PICTURE ADVENTURE:

JEB
Hey Hounders
The day, after Homer came to live with us, dad brought us in and brushed each one us, then we each got a bath and then we got brushed out again.
GORDON
We had to stay in our crates until that afternoon, we couldn't go out and play in the paddock. Then that evening all eight of us got into the big blue suburban and went to get our Christmas pictures taken. We all had our chain collars and leashes attached while we rode in the back with all the seats folded down except up front.  Dad says that the trip was a real adventure; a logistical nightmare to be precise. Dad had to keep turning around and telling us to "STOP THAT" all the way to town.  (What does "Don't make me pull over." mean?)  We went up to the Fredericksburg SPCA where the pictures were taken. I think that my picture came out best.
JACK
I had fun exploring the photographer's trailer studio. I was the biggest dog that they'd seen in a while; it was a tight fit and I bumped in to a few of the props and lights and stuff. The "Lil' Pals" people were really nice and they helped me look really good (http://www.lilpalsva.com/index.htm).
ABBEY
There really wasn't anyplace that could take a picture of all eight of us together at once.  Besides, that would probably turn into a riot.  Later dad had all of our individual pictures put into a composite for our Christmas cards. He even added one more picture that had to be taken later; more on that in another chapter.  I guess that the card was a big hit because I looked so handsome in it. I really stood out, probably because I'm the biggest dog in the picture.  The episode was a bit strenuous for mom and dad though and we haven't all gone for a picture together since then; maybe for Christmas 2012 all eleven of us Bumpass Hounds could do it again.  I wonder if the five kitties could come along for entertainment?

STEP UP TO ADOPT A PET

If you can, please consider opening your home to a homeless animal, preferably a dog or cat or other domesticated animal; livestock does better on farms and wild animals do better in zoos and parks. Your local Humane Society or SPCA or Animal Shelter has a wide selection of could be, should be, pets looking for new homes. If you can't adopt, perhaps you can at least become a sponsor. We'll show you how to help out Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (AHGRRS) on our blog page, but you can help out any organization of your choice, but please help; contribute or volunteer.

CAN'T ADOPT; BECOME AN ANGEL.
So many Senior and Special Needs Goldens do not find "forever homes". Many of these dogs have above average medical needs and costs, are maintained on "special" diets, or have other extraordinary needs. Your donations can be targeted towards a particular Senior or Special needs Golden Retriever. As a sponsor, you will receive updates about your "special" Golden, and will be mentioned in our quarterly newsletter as the dog's sponsor. We also accept Paypal donations. Please keep in mind that we are a non-profit organization and that your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please just write the Golden's name in the memo line of your check or Paypal submission when sponsoring a Golden Retriever.
